I'm sure there are a lot of people who could/can do it with the proper training
If it was that easy the NFL would do it. They can't. These replacement refs have been refs at various levels and had training for this and they still suck. They need these refs.
Exactly how much training did they get though? Really it doesnt matter, these normal officials have been terrible too. Once they get back and start making bad calls the belly aching will be heard then too
they make mistakes, but the stuff that the replacement refs have been doing is just ridiculous. NFL Live just did a replay of worst calls of the year and they were mostly giving extra timeouts, marking off penalties from the wrong spot. Will a ref miss a hold or pass interference, of course, it happens. They are screwing up the simple stuff right now.
They aren't exactly getting paid with peanuts as it stands now though. I think the NFL really needs to get the real guys back in the game, BUT I understand why they don't want to give them full time benefits and pensions. They literally don't work over 100 hours in a year. Why should they get full time benefits and pensions for that amount of work.
The NFL is prepared to give them more money, and a considerable amount, but they aren't going to give them and their families benefits that people hat work full time year round get. Hell a lot of people in this country don't even get that
