Can't believe he is 40. My favorite Duke player of all time, my grandfather graduated from Duke and taught at the university. Where would he be in the all time debate if he didn't get hurt?
Most thought he was a Scottie Pippen with more potential
So something like that, certainly would have been a top 30/40 player of all time imo.... Maybe better
fsufsu said... I've got about 10 great stories on Lane but all you need to know is he will never be a loser, that's for sure.
I love the Scottie Pippen comparison. Any player than can play in his late thirties at a high level has to be immensely talented. Also, has Hill been in the head lines for anything controversial ever?
Jalen Rose use to talk shit out of jealousy for how clean cut he was
Grant Hill drinks Sprite?

One of my favorite players. It's a shame he'll never win a NBA championship as a player.
I love that 1994 draft class. Hill along with Kidd, Juwan Howard, Jalen Rose, Eddie Jones, Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson, and Charlie Ward. First NBA draft I watched as a kid.
I drank so many sprite's when Hill's face was plastered on them. I can't remember the last sprite I had. I think i burnt myself out on em.
I was thinking about Sprite's slow downward spiral the other day. I suddenly realized that no one seems to drink regular Sprite anymore.
It was those free 20 oz caps... seems like every other sprite you bought won you a free sprite... Brings back some good memories.
I have stories from our Duke days....the 1 year we overlapped as I was a fresh during his senior year.
-G. Hill averaged ~ 26 ppg, 7 rpg, 5 assists per game during his last "healthy" season in 1999-2000 at age 27. He was just hitting his prime when the injury occured.
-Lot of people may not know but G.Hill almost died during his time out injuried in 2003 as he contracted a staff infection as his ankle swole up the size of a softball. I knew about it back then as I used to occasionally attend the same barbershop as the Duke & UNC basketball players and it was shared there.
-Seriously though.....G-Hill obviously had all the ladies on "The Plantation".....remember this freshmen dime (future AKA for those that know that type) that I was trying to holla at wouldn't give me any play because she was so into G.Hill. Made a fool of herself during pre-game warm-ups of a game (I don't recall which game) as she walked along the sideline calling Grant's name to get his attention. He completely ignored shorty.
-Thanks to G. Hill I was able to meet and converse with Jada Pinkett during Senior Day 1994 as the 2 of them [G. Hill and Jada] used to date back in the day. They weren't together at the time of Senior Day but they were still mad-cool and she was one of his guest at the game. Can't lie....I had a "thang" for Jada back then as I used to watch her on A Different World in high school (1991-1993)......imagining....
It was the lowest point of NBA All-Star Grant Hill's life. In 2003, Grant contracted a MRSA infection, a dangerous bacterial infection that attacked his body following an ankle surgery. The recovery left him sidelined for months, and Grant says the near-death experience shook his faith.

You get out of it what you put into it!
Those quotes were really taken out of context. It wasn't anything personal he had against Grant Hill, he just resented Duke because they wouldn't give him a chance as a city kid who dressed and acted like it. He also said he was jealous of GH because of the opportunities he had as people saw him as the clean-cut All-American black guy while he (Jalen) was pre-judged as an ignorant and selfish player as were the rest of the Fab Five although that was not true.
I used like Grant Hill before he robbed the Magic blind with that ridicolus contract, and he barely even played a full season.
Huge fan of Grant Hill - as a player and a person.
