I see it as I hate leaving off Bo and Payton, but I can't see anyone ahead of Herschel.
Herschel was 1st team All American all 3 years he played at UGA and probably should have won the Heisman all 3 years as well. He is the only player in history to finish in the top 3 every year he played. That was also back when the award was more of a career award and they were completely against giving it to underclassmen.
I'll throw my last piece in then drop it.
Vince Young was great...for one year.
Brooks was 3x All ACC, 2x All Americal, 2x Lombardi finalist.
Yea, he carried his team more than Brooks, but he was a running QB, while Brooks played LB.
In 25 years do you think our kids will know the name Derrick Brooks or the name Vince Young.
Brooks is #10 in my book but I see that it's debatable between him and Young.
Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or it may last a year. But eventually, it will subside. If i quit, however it will last forever.
I see your point.
QB is a tough position to judge against others as it is so hard to come in and be great from the start. At other positions, that is definitely more possible.
If we were to compare the numbers and judge what they did in the NFL, there would be no debate. Brooks is a HOF LB.
I'm biased, he's my favorite athlete of all time.
As a FSU/Bucs fan this guys career was literally a fairy tale script.
Wins NC at FSU
Wins Super Bowl at Bucs
Walter Peyton Man of the year
NEVER in trouble
Buys Tampa Bay Storm (arena football)
Joins FSU Board of Trusties
The guy is like a super hero for Tampa natives.
I agree with you.
When I was in college, I was all about Cornelius Bennett. Of course, he was on the losing side in 5 Super Bowls and never won one.
Brooks was amazing. Him, Sapp, and Lynch won a lot of games without much help on the other side of the ball for a long time.
It's Herschel and it isn't even a question. Nobody else can even carry his jock.

I'm sorry, but in college football, Woodson is easily on top of Sanders. I'm not going to say that it isn't close, but I think it is definitive.
