To other Bama fans,
Why in the hell is Belue still starting alongside MIlliner? He has been getting torched and made look like a fool WAY to many times. You can't tell me that Fulton or Geno aren't better than this guy. He might look awesome in practice, but it's obvious that he's a liability during games.
He did get faked out of his jock on that deep ball where he bit on the corner route. Seems like his tackling has gotten suspect as well.
Winning all that matters
He's been getting torched on a regular basis since the LSU game.
Not disagreeing with that, just saying that Fulton or Smith should be starting ahead of him
Fulton has been hurt and Saban asid that the light has just recently turned on for Smith and Collins.
I'd be more concerned with Vinny's coverage than Belue.
I can't remember the last time that Bama had as many injury issues than they have had this year.
You need to go back to BOL. Belue got killed against LSU, A&M and tonight. I just call them like I see them, but you are borderline retarded if you think that he's been "holding his own". Mettenberger made him his bitch and so did Murray.
Cause he's better than whoever is behind him.
I'm not so sure you can assume whoever is behind him is either.
I kind of agree with both of you. Belue and Perry hurt in the LSU game, but Belue has been in good positions since then. He needs to get better at turning and looking for the ball though.
Fulton and Smith have looked better in man to man coverage than Belue by far. At least in the games. He might just be a stud in practice. Belue has just gotten beat WAYYY, to many times. I'm happy as hell that we are going to the natty game again, but I would still like to see someone else as the starter at corner. I know that we need him in nickel and dime sets, but I just don't see him as our second best cb on the team.

Just look at the games again. In the LSU, A&M and UGA games he's been torched for at least two deep balls a game. LSU receivers had something like 13 catches on him and most of the third down and long conversions have come against him. I'm not saying he's a scrub, but he's been a liablity to our defense since the LSU game. That is just a fact.
Other Bama fans on this board can't honestly say that you haven't sat down and during the game said, "Belue got beat again".
you tell me ...
a) because Dre turned pro early & BJ Scott(talened but..),Zo Lawrence(mental case),& Robbie Green(chronic) didnt make it to their redshirt senior seasons.
or b) because the coaches feel the underclassmen arent ready ?
on a side note:
Sunseri (because Jarrick Williams was lost for the year) should replace Robert Lester in certain passing situations but there seems to not be anyone ready to handle Vinnie's role.

Maybe he doesn't think Geno is ready and I will give you that. I still think that Fulton has looked better than him when he's been given the chance. I don't know what goes on during their practices or how they look in that forum, but it games both Geno Smith and Fulton have looked better in man-man coverage.
As far as Sunserie, he's sure as hell been a wonderful surprise. I was actually a little upset that we wasted a scholly on him when he first committed to us. I have a lot of crow to eat on that one.
Like I said, wasn't trying to be a Debbie Downer. I just said that I think Fulton or Smith should be starting in that spot. I personally think we have a better chance with one of those two starting ahead of him. I'm happy as hell that we beat UGA. As happy as anyone else.
I'm just saying that I continuously have seen Belue getting beat. Do I think that I know more about football than Saban?
Give me a break . Of course not. I'm just stating that since the LSU game, I've been seeing Belue getting picked on and getting beat more than he makes a play. I think everyone would agree that we've had problems putting teams away even on 3rd and long situations since the LSU games. Most of those 3rd and long conversions have been against him.
Saban did put him on the bench after a while during all of the three games I mentioned earlier, including tonight. Geno Smith was playing more late in the game than Belue was.
That is what I am asking. Late in the game against LSU, A&M and tonight, you have been seeing Belue on the bench more than he's been playing unless it's nickel or dime.
I'm not going to get in an argument with you. I never said that I even have the football knowledge that Saban does in his pinky finger. I'm just saying that I keep seeing Belue getting beat on a pretty regular basis in the past few weeks. I know that I'm not the only person that has been saying WTF when it comes to Belue.
If Saban says that he's better than those other two guys, so be it. I just think that the other two I have mentioned have looked better than him during the games.
i agree but also keep in mind that we have no J.Clowney's or Derrick Thomas types that would make the entire unit look better.
to be honest im shocked the guys have done as well as they have. call it coaching, oneness, smarts, whatever but imo we have several liabilities in the secondary.
i do however feel Geno Smith & Jabriel Washington will impress alot of folks when they get the opp.
Could you imagine us at this point if Clowney would have committed to Bama like we thought? Eventually, we will end up getting one of those bad ass edge rushers. I still think the analysts underestimate what Hubbard can do, but that is just me.
I guess that you do have to give Belue the benefit of the doubt being that this is his first year starting at the FBS level. Hell Milliner was a liability during his freshman season (granted he was a TF and Belue isn't) and now he's the best cover corner in college football arguably.
now you're with me & "the unit in need" did reach the NCG.
here is a full fledged what if ...Clowney at Jack
Milliner & Dre at corner,BJ Scott at nickle, Barron & HaHa deep w/ Zo in the dime ?
that would virtually have our starting NC secondary as backups. .... we may be spoiled
