Lol @ throwing decades of domination out the window for one season.
Pump those breaks Texas has been to two national championships in the last seven years.
Won one and had their star QB hurt in the first quarter of the other.
And anyone can win at SF having the Yorks as owners.
FSU Football. Making cool the new swag since 2013.
but on a positive side for Texas, they will only have to refuse to play A&m in the Cotton Bowl for 4 years. after that Johnny will be selling shoes, cows, cars, or running for Mayor.
this is not true IMO
granted it might be wishful thinking, but A&M is here to stay
Kevin Sumlin + the move to the SEC + Johnny Football + instant success
but the common misconception is that it can only be A&M or texas. the state produces more than enough talent for both. Who it hurts more are the OOS schools who were fighting A&M for texas recruits.
That's a fair point.
I think the point is that every run is cyclical and Mack is trending down...much like Slocum was when Mack came in. The question will be, how long does Mack stay around? With the lack of competition in the Big 12, I dont see a scenario where Texas does much worse than 8-9 wins a season but how long does that keep him around? We know the fan base isnt happy with that but has Mack done enough to write his own ticket as long as he's winning 9 games a year?
Recruiting momentum is swinging in the state in the 2013 class and early 2014.
What does that mean going forward???
Ask Nebraska, Miami, USC etc etc etc etc..... how much that means to recruits, if you dont win NOW.
Nebraska in 94-95 was one of the most dominant teams in history but that history hasnt kept them from mediocrity over the last decade.
Same thing for Miami.... "the U" was one of the most talented teams in the country in the early 2000's but have been terrible over the last 6-7 years.
USC- just the most recent example of a huge program and historic power that is now struggling with mediocrity.
You're blind if you dont see that Texas (after their last 3 years) isnt on the short list of traditional powers that's now on the fast track to hit a down cycle. The longer Mack is around, and more wins and momentum A&M racks up, the harder it will be for Texas to dig out of the hole.
I agree that it's swinging but I don't agree it's going to so drastically change so that one team dominates one way or the other as in the years past. I think now more than ever the state's recruits will be split more evenly than they have in years past. Both schools will be helped and both will be hurt in some ways.
9 wins a year isn't going to keep Mack around. He knows that. Fans know that. Hopefully Dodds and Powers know that as well. Next year imo it's conference championship or bust for Mack. I think if it's anything short of that than he's done.

How much that means to recruits? You serious? We just had the most disappointing season in our history and you had your best, all while our recruiting class is ranked higher than yours even though you have 20 more commitments.
Fall back Agy you haven't won d**k. Texas can crawl back out of that hole in a season, you live in it.
Proof where Texas class is ranked higher? Proof where this is their "most disappointing season in history"... DId you read your post before you hit submit?
Please, someone, tell me I'm completely missing the sarcasm in this post? Please....
It's not a zero sum game. Both teams could be successful at the same time. As much as I love to see Texas have a tough time, I think it would be exciting as hell if both teams were doing well. It's more likely that happens now that they don't play each other.
He is one of them hippie USC fans
I didn't say Texas' was.
He said "Ask USC how much it means to recruits"
Ohhhhh.... Well that explains more of it then.
He's talking about USC.
I see that now, still, I'd argue that's it's their "most disappointing ever". 2005 should be pretty disappointing, I mean they went winless once it was all said and done after winning 12 games.
Lmao nice try Agy.
Am I incorrect?
Aggie, it's pretty simple to spell bud
Texas really dominated Alabama last time they played
I'd say not three-peating was pretty disappointing, but you know how that feels Agy.
Bro, you can't even talk trash right.
Aggy, nobody knows what the crap Agy means.
But you're right, as of right now we don't anything about 3-peating. I have no problem with factual data.
Deepest apologies Agy
Keep your head in the sand....
Go check out our 2014 recruiting class so far. How many of our commits have offers from the mighty University of Texas????
Answer = most, if not all of them.
If you dont believe me...ask your recruiting guys on your site. If any of them are willing to be real with you, they will tell you that A&M has as much or more recruiting momentum in the State of Tx AND nationally right now.
Want proof??? Look no further than the fact that we're having to try to find room for top athletes who want in our class, while you guys are having guys de-commit every other week.
Texas will always pull top talent but you're being a homer if you dont realize that things are shifting drastically right now on the recruiting front.
