Pac most def wasn't overrated. Lyrically, he wasn't seeing Nas, Frank White, Big L etc..., but he still put out very solid material. Me Against The World and The Don Killuminati were classics IMO.
What sanctions? Our 75 are better than your 85.
Neither could Snoop, NWA, Chuck D, Big Pun, KRS-1, Common, etc.
And Wu can't hold a candle to OutKast, lol. Does that make them overrated?
+1 for Andre 3 Stacks as well.
Run dmc=best rappers ever
What is happiness? The feeling that power is growing, that resistance is overcome.--Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche
I didn't read this whole thread because it's too long to catch up on, but IMO yes, he is. By far my favorite artist ever.
"A good burn is like good sex. It's simple, to the point, and leaves your victim totally destroyed."--Kenny Drebsen
Me Against the World was fantastic, but All Eyez on Me was one of my favorites. I even liked 2pacalypse Now. Almost every song was a story, I think it's my 2nd favorite pac CD.
I enjoy run dmc, but lol
Like I said ealier ITT. I don't think 2-Pac sucks for sure and I'm not going to bash anyone for thinking he is the best rapper or their favorite by any means. I feel the same way about Run-DMC. I look for other things when I think of the "greatest" but neither mentions are scrubs by any means.
Maybe somebody should make a who is the best lyricist topic. @ the op best rapper yes best lyricist no.

Lyricism is the most important part of rapping imo, that is why I don't think he's #1.
I disagree, but I see you're point.
Gotta be able to ride the beat first.
Lyrics ain't shit if ur just talking about boats and hoes.
Good thing Nas, Rakim, Biggie, and many others didn't talk about that
True, but many can. Better than pac imo.
Look guys.. I'm not trying to hate on pac, he's a legend and I respect what he did for rap. I just don't think he's the best.
He's up there. It seems like everybody is trying to compare apples to oranges.
You are probably right. I heard a dmc holiday song on the radio today a I got carried away
Hahaha, I get carried away easily as well. No worries man.
That's not real lyricism. This southern club based rap these days is not the type of rap we're talking about in this thread. None of those guys would even be considered when talking lyricism.
I'd rather hear a rapper with dope lyrics without a beat than hear a rapper ride a beat well but have bs lyrics.
Best lyricist and best rapper are far different things. Being the best rapper entails much more than lyrics. Jay-Z, while a great lyricist, ranks higher on the best rapper list than the best lyricist list. His influence on the entire landscape of rap is why. He is the godfather of modern day mainstream rap music. He made a lot of the rappers today money just because of the way he took the circuit corporate. He showed others how to make rap a business and not just a job.
Jayz is is sorry af! This topic turned into a joke. Ill go with record sales. Em and PAC > anybody because they was talking real life shit people could relate to not what sounds cool Gtfo.
Tupac considered one of the greatest because how he reached out to people and made music bout every day life in poverty. he reached people through his music like no one ever has before . As far as greatest lyricist hands down andra 3000. Most influential tupac
Was 2Pac very poverty stricken? I really don't know but I don't think that he was all that poor growing up. I could be wrong, but didn't he take acting lessons and things like that from a private school growing up?
Again, not trying to downgrade the guy because he was good. I just put people like Rakim, biggie, Jadakiss, half of the Wu Tang Clan, Andre 3000, KRS-One and others above him. I just put lyricism above all other categories when looking at rappers.
Actually DMX is underrated. He may have turned out to be a crackhead but the guy could still rap.
Also the guy that said that guys that rap about "boats and ho's" or whatever, all rappers have songs about things along that line. 2Pac doesn't have his songs about those kinds of things either.
Not sure if serious.
