I would have posted this on BOL, but I know I'd get killed. Some of you Bama haters will probably enjoy this topic anyway.
I think the last two weeks could have been the beginning of the end for the Alabama program as it is currently put together. The defense gave up two of its worst performances since Saban's arrival. The offense can no longer establish a dominant, physical identity. There's a long list of reasons.
Two horrible games in a row. Even if you count out the A&M loss due to the greatness of Manziel, you certainly couldn't make that argument for the LSU loss. Looks like a trend to me.
We probably lose Smart after this year.
Still stacked at linebacker but depth at corner is weak. Safety should be better next year with HaHa and Collins. Jury is still out on D line.
Our veteran offensive line has proven itself to be overrated and weak. Depth for next year is uncertain.
Still stacked at RB and WR.
QB depth is weak, McCarron very overrated.
New OC hasn't shown much.
Bottom line is that I could easily see losses to Georgia and in the bowl game. Even if we win both of those, I still see 2-4 losses next year. Recruiting has been great but having 1000 linebackers and RBs is no good if you don't get quality depth at other positions. I fully admit that I'm a pessimistic fan but I just feel like the run is over. Thoughts?
I think he is fine but I hope not.
Yes, manziel will play Alabama 3 more times. Will Nick saban still be there in 4 years?
Why? There is little doubt that both A&M and LSU will be better than us next year. Florida is rising again. Georgia and USC are still decent teams. It's been a great 5 year run but if you look at history most don't last much longer than that.
The only way Alabama's run would come to an end is of you woke up tomorrow and read a Birmingham News headline that said " Saban fired after being caught with Tranny. Mike Shula returns to finish unfinished business. "
Saban will have us competing each year. In this day and age that's all that matters.
fsufsu said... I've got about 10 great stories on Lane but all you need to know is he will never be a loser, that's for sure.
Says who? Because Johnny Football returns? We've got some all Americans returning as well. LSU will be better than us? That's a given? It's one thing to be critical of how we played the last 2 weeks. It's another to go full retard.
The Dawgs are coming. Bammers better watch out!
Understatement of the Century!
LSU is a given because their defense is much better than ours right now. A&M is a toss up to me because they'll have some losses personnel wise but it's on the road. Maybe it is "full retard", but just answer me this - have we ever played a worse two game stretch in the last 4 years? And don't give me anything in 2010 because that wasn't a talent or scheme problem like I believe this is.
To be the man, you gotta beat the man. And UGA is the man! December 1st, Woooo you're going to be mine!
After all the talent that we lost last year, this year would be a rebuilding year for pretty much any other team in the country. We are still going in Atlanta and still have a shot at the BCS championship.
So LSU is a given to be better than us NEXT year because their defense is better than us THIS year? The numbers tell a different story this year.
Yes. 2009 South Carolina and Tennessee we played much worse probably. It just happened to be that neither one of those teams were top 10-15 teams.
You got right with "full retard" though.
Don't think so, still got the tools and an embarrassment of riches coming in.
What is your problem with our scheme?
I worded that wrong. I meant to say "right now it looks like their defense will be better next year". Based of what we both return, etc
That Zach Mettenberger can beat it. That we gave up far worse numbers to A&M than LSU did.
They lose three first rounders on defense possibly 4 if their tackle is eligible.

Last years Bama team was much better than this years. Defense was worlds better.
We lose the only good player we have in the secondary and our best Offensive linemen.
Bama goes from unbeatable to a middle of the pack SEC team in two weeks. Damn
Short answer is simply no. We have gotten a little too cute with our offensive play calling, that will be fixed asap by saban i bet.
Defensively, we played two teams back to back who played there best all year and we lost one by 4 points and had a good shot to win that one.
There are some things that need to change though. We need to make defensive linemen out top priority, and I mean the TOP. We had terrible performances by that unit and our JACK these last two games and our secondary was whipped because of that. We have some guys i believe will remedy that next year and are trying to bring in some more top notch secondary guys these next 2 classes.
As far as this year, we are tired and look ot too. Like i said though when you play two great teams back to back and a alright team before them you will probably have a loss.
Future is still bright though
University of Alabama: The high mark of college football since 1892
Agree. Belue, Clintin Dix and Fulton are terrible. (Sarcasm)
