After reading this thread, I agree with Jos Mit. I've always thought being gay or straight was a choice.
Well, even if a person doesn't believe man was created by God, science still has proven (with 100 % fact) that only women can reproduce.
Same sex attraction is a choice, and I believe same sex love is a choice. We were all carried in the wombs of women, not men.
I choose to pound girl butt instead of boy butt. But its not a choice?
The natural act of sex is between man and female.
Ironic post of the year to date.
Because humans are naturally engineered to reproduce with one male and one female. Since male+male || female+female <> life it's not what nature designed. Thus it's a choice.
I agree. Though most on the left will disagree, as we are entitled to our opinions until those opinions do not agree with theirs. I can be against the practice of homosexuality and not be a bigot.

You will be right when a man has a child or a woman impregnates another woman. Science so far is not on your side.
The same people who call you a bigot would never support polygamy. I say they're bigots also
Now this, I agree with, two totally different situations.
Why So Serious?
He started the thread in response to someone saying that to him in another thread. The guy that compared Collins and Jackie Robinson then proceeded to withdraw his statement after he realized how stupid it was. Then the thread was locked. Only an idiot would compare the two (even though someone besides the OP actually did).
I said it before, and I'll say it again. Scientific research does not support the notion that homosexuality is genetically determined. Doesn't even seem to be that much evidence that it's linked to genetics. Which, by the way, is not determinative. Obesity, alcoholism, and kleptomania have all been linked to genetics. The only thing a link creates is tendencies, not determination.
However, I would also not call it a choice. Some people may choose it, but in general, based on what I've read, it does not fall into the category of choice. There are other factors many people seem to be overlooking.
This is a good standing ground^^^
But what may be the things we are overlooking? Someones culture may lead them to be gay, but thats still a choice. Someones outward appearance and underlying issues between self worth may lead them to be gay because they may feel they have something to hold on to in life. Its a good question of whether people are born this way or not, but from what i see is that science has proven the opposite attraction as early as the age of 3, but never the same sex attraction at that age. Once they find that, then will i believe that they are born that way, but I just dont see anything that says that they are. But I do agree some cant help it, such like cereal killers, child molesters etc. (I am in no way comparing them to gays), however they made certain choices or put into certain situations in life that evolved into these things. Could very well be that culture is the main reason for sexuality. I still believe it is a choice just like me telling the truth or lying is. One is a simple sin and the other is the truth, being gay is a sin, but I wont judge my sins compare to any others. That is not my place.
Based on what I've read, the most likely explanation seems to be environmental factors.
Unfortunately, there is generally a dearth of research on homosexuality, its causes and effects, how it can change, etc. I believe that dearth is because of political correctness, which is a shame.
I think we can all agree that people who want to murder Captain Crunch or Count Chocolate need to be locked away.
PS I agree with you 100%, but it's too obvious to not rib you a little
One of my best friends since kindergarten recently came out and told me he was gay. I've known the kid for years and even though it should have been obvious I never knew. He never told anyone until he was 20 years old because for his whole life before that he was trying to convince himself he wasn't gay. He wished he could be like the rest of us and reciprocate all the love he would get from girls but he never could. None of us, as in our friends are religious or homophobic so we all accept it 100% but his parents are very Catholic and he still hasn't told them.
Now how is my friend choosing to be gay?
NO WAY AT ALL
Jason Collins will not live in fear for his life. His family will not be afraid to go outside. This is so fvking stupid. Absurd
Good comparison. Very similar, Robinson chose to be a black at a convenient time to get a contract because he sucked and was on a sucky team in the last year of his contract.
My unscientific opinion is that in this country, we are hell bent on making everyone feel like they are nit to blame. You aren't fat because you eat to much, it's McDonald's fault for frying the stuff in fatty oil. You are addicted to cigs cause RJ Reynolds made you addicted and targeted you in ads. You aren't a kid with lots of energy who can't listen and follow directions(like a lot of young kids). You have ADD. You aren't in a crappy spot in life because you sleep til noon everyday and have no motivation at all, you just need a break. No one is held accountable for anything. So the gay guy is told, its not your choice, you were born that way. Being gay is less acceptable than other lifestyles now. 50 yrs from now, it will be more accepted and gay guys will be saying" hey, I just like guys, big deal" and people won't care.
Almost 6 pages now of "discussion"
This one was too easy.
Wait, this wasn't a serious question...?
Well considering you're here, we can lay that assumption to rest.
(Sorry, it was just sitting their on the tee, BLF....still love ya tho)
Started at the bottom, now we here.....better get used to it.
