Wow, great hire. That's a......troubling.....move for the Vols. VERY happy here.
We are incubating him until bama processes Burton Burns.
Every FSU hire is a great hire
That is troubling for Tenn. He left coaching Lattimore at SC to go to Tenn, because it was his dream job.
Gotta be hard to lose a legacy like this to another school. If you're UT you are hoping FSU gave him a significant raise.
Flames and hyper-generalizations aside.....
What position does he coach ? Congrats.
Golden is better then Jimbo... I feared it was true. He is going to hoist a crystal ball there - fsufsu
RBs, I am not here to gloat seriously, it is very pertinent info. He's an elite recruiter in the Carolinas that can also coach. if you get an ace recruiter who actually can coach at RB you're doing weeeelll
From a Vol's fan perspective, this is just about as tough as Tee turning us down with the exception of this being a blindside hit. He left no indication that he was unhappy with his pay or position to anybody on the staff. Very concerting for us. We will need to knock this hire out of the park because he was tied for our best recruiter on staff with Thigpen.
Butch Jones. Who???
Loved Graham when he was with us. Great recruiter and a good coach.
If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love.
If he was really the 2nd lowest paid coach on your staff then it makes sense he left. Assistant coaches these days get paid. Especially the ones who can recruit.
It was a combination of his already existing contract (which he did get a raise on however insignificant it was) , and his status of being a holdover of the previous staff which had a poor showing. He was gonna get his. The staff just wanted to see it first. I agree that it is horrible that we allowed this to slip through our fingers, but the blame can be dealt on both parties (Graham wanting money and the staff wanting to protect itself).
Also being told by one of our posters that Jones attempted to renegotiate his contract to include a significant pay raise, and Graham bolted anyway. Great gut punch to start my day.
It's a long way to go, and Tennesee has some very good talent in their backyard this yr.
I expect Graham will get FSU involved with Hurd, or at the very least, make a run at him.
He definitely will. Which makes this all the worse. This is the equivalent of Tim Tebow and Emmitt Smith being on two different coaching staffs, recruiting against you, for players that both schools need (their alma mater needing them direly). Also, Tim and Emmitt decided to spurn you for those jobs in a very public way, just for perspective.
Our program is going through the roughest time it's seen in a few decades (1970s).
The good news is that there's only one way to go, for Tenn. Which is up. New coaches have done well for themselves in the SEC lately, so that's a plus.
The bad news is that this upcoming schedule is brutal, on paper at least.
We're going to have to be content competing for 6 wins next year (as we have the past 4 years), then hope for 8 the year after. Small steps. We have some pieces, but we have enough holes to damper the effect those pieces could have.
Except Bill Napier or Coley.
Those guys clearly weren't qualified to coach at FSU. JMHO.
This one actually is. Dude is money with evals.
FSU certainly got a great coach. I love watching the Big Orange dumpster fire burn.
The funniest thing is reading Vol fans thinking that this is just a lateral move...
28-34 over the last 5 years.
A successful season in Knoxville is .500 nowadays.
Chuck Amato was not a great hire.
This is true. My first post on the Blue Board. I am for one not upset about Jay. He wanted a few more dollars, and probably likes the idea of winning now. We are a few years away at best from being a power again, and that is if Butch Jones can get us in the right direction. FSU offers two things. Stability and more cash. Plus it is not Florida, Alabama, or Vanderbilt so we're good. Go

There are only four answers to any question: Yes, No, I don't know, or the Correct Answer.
I think Jay was looking at what RBs would go on his resume from the next three years.
Marlin Lane, Devryn Young, and a couple average guys
Freeman, Wilder, Pender, Green, Yearby
He has the potential to be an even better recruiter than Gran, and that is a scary thought
Jimbo is one of the best coach finders around
fsufsu said... I've got about 10 great stories on Lane but all you need to know is he will never be a loser, that's for sure.
