When your receiver can dominate the player guarding them, it makes it easy to be a QB sometimes. That's the difference between playing in college and in the NFL. If college, you just have to get it in their hands against 90% of your opponents. In the NFL you have to fit it in the right spot.
The same can be said for playing a defense of Alabama's caliber last year. The same could also have been said for LSU's defense. There were many times LSU DB's had great coverage and McCarron just put it on the money. The kid was on that game and that was the difference, IMO.
Just that one throw by JJ in the Natty where he could easily run for the first but threw a retarded a pick was the icing that he sucked for me.
Either way an elite program like LSU shouldn't ever have to choose between two QB's that bad.
Even when Bama is relying on their defense the QB is usually still capable. LSU's was not for the most part. Plus Les offense was terrible was is it pro style, spread option? Like 5 years into your tenure you should have some consistency IMO.
no question , you are exactly right . McCarron couldnt /didnt hit any thing the first half of the UT game but he came out in the second half and ate their lunch . After he started hitting those throws it was alll over ...terrible
Your tellen me
Don't worry, you guys will be kick ass again this year anyway.
But yeh I feel your pain.
He was ranked 315 going into the combine and he left at the same spot, so really it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. He's not a good quarterback, even by the college rankings- what makes anyone think he'll even be good enough to be a 3rd string QB at the NFL? He's a prime example of someone who has exceptional athletic talent that can't translate into success under center, specifically at the NFL level.
have to agree with you
True. JJ was invited to show his athletic ability IMO. He is a good athlete that could have a future at WR or a TE/H back position.
Do people here really consider Darron Thomas and Jordan Jefferson on the same level as college QBs? Darron Thomas looks like Cam Newton compared to Jordan Jefferson...
Darron Thomas (junior)
2010 - 2881 yards, 30 TDs, 9 INTs; 486 yards rushing, 5 TDs
2011 - 2761 yards, 33 TDs, 7 INTs; 206 yards rushing, 3 TDs
2009 - 2166 yards, 17 TDs, 7 INTs; 171 yards rushing, 1 TD
2010 - 1411 yards, 7 TDs, 10 INTs; 450 yards, 7 TDs
2011 - 727 yards, 6 TDs, 2 INTs
Career - 4733 yards, 34 TDs, 20 INTs; 1114 yards rushing, 12 TDs
Nick Foles looked like a Heisman candidate in the PAC12, as did Masoli until he transferred to the SEC.
I know AU doesn't have one of those defenses, but most of the rest of us do.
Darron Thomas vs LSU...
240 yards passing, 1 TD, 1 INT; 4 carries, 1 TD rushing
Meanwhile, against the vaunted UO defense, LSU managed 98 yards passing and a <50% completion percentage.
vs. Stanford (who Saban "believed" was #3 in the nation)...
11/17 155 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT
vs. Wisconsin (Rose Bowl)...
268 yards passing, 3 TDs, 1 INT; 2 carries, 155 yards rushing, 2 TDs
...Moral of this story, Jordan Jefferson just sucks, much like anyone trying to make a reasonable comparison between these two QBs.

Oregon may have had a better QB but LSU had a better overall team, no doubt about that. Auburn got the better end of that deal when comparing NC opponents. I'd rather play Oregon than LSU any day of the week.
Jefferson was inconsistent but played pretty well against us in his career. Had the lead until he got hurt in 09, beat us in 10, came in and led LSU to a win after Lee threw 2 picks last year...just played extremely awful in the title game but so did LSU's entire team.
have to agree , it took a great AL def to show everyone how average the kid was but the Al did that to a bunch of off last year
Shoeless you kill me with your lack of quote while agreeing man. I like you man, but your crazy, your crazy.
EDIT: I was going for Old School Will Ferrell FYI.

2010 UO's offense was much tougher to defend than 2011 LSU's was. All Auburn would need to shut down LSU's running game/offense would be Nick Fairley.
2011 LSU was absolutely abysmal on offense.
no just saying that LSU beat the crap out of alot of pretty good team last year with Jefferson at QB and they won b/c he could make things happen with how athletic he was BUT againest Alabama's Def - in both games he didnt play well . They kept him the pocket and contained him really well and forced him to try and beat them by throwing the ball . If Al hadnt missed all those kicks in the first game i think they could have won that game and they totally controlled jeffereson in the 2nd game . Dont mean to agree with everyone all the time but alot of stuff i do agree with just b/c i watch the games and try and keep up with everything as much as possible . Not an expert by any means and dont like to get in shitting matches about crap ...when UT starts playing better and making it a game againest some of your bozo teams ..hell coming to breakfast but for now not so much
Jordan Jefferson is borderline retarded.
Did you guys not see the interview with him before the season where they were asking him about famous Jeffersons?
They showed him a picture of Thomas Jefferson and asked him who it was...He said George Jefferson...
And 2010 UO's defense wasn't even in the same stratosphere as 2011 LSU's defense.
My point is that LSU was a better overall team than Oregon. I realize 2010 Oregon was slightly different from 2011 Oregon but they were very similar in terms of talent. Both won the conference and went to BCS bowls. LSU dismantled Oregon in Dallas. It was 40-20 before Oregon added a garbage time TD with 13 seconds left in the game.
Oregon was a very good team in 2010 and in 2011 but 2011 LSU was a great team. I guess people like to forget that LSU was a great team in 2011 because of their title game performance but they were being talked about as one of the greatest teams of all time based on their resume before NOLA. They beat the shit out of the Pac 12 and Rose Bowl champ on a neutral field, beat the shit out of the Big East and Orange Bowl champ by 26 points on their home field, beat the shit out of top 5 Arkansas by 24 points, beat the shit out of East Division champ UGA by 32 points and beat the National Champs on their home field.
2011 LSU was better than 2010 Oregon. That's my point.
