Guy runs 58 yards the wrong way only for the opposing team to tackle him.
This actually happened! Kents punt return team, who foolishly tackled him before he could score them two points.

Why did they tackle him?
someone needs to gif that for use in failure threads
FSU Ambassador to the masses
No clue. I guess their first instincts was to tackle him. Probably didn't realize til afterwards what they had done.
I would if I knew how.
Wrongway Roy Reigles did it for Cal in the Rose Bowl.
Looks like another perfect day.
Will be a long gif in order for people to understand what's going on.
What epic failure on all levels. Love the fact that he gets up talking ish then 5 seconds later realizes what he did. Lol at him.
This guy was like 15 yards away from scoring a TD. He'll never hear the end if it.
I would have waited til he scored and when he threw the ball down... picked it up... touchdown.
he was 12 yards from a TD. What an idiot.
need more white kids.
Yep. Thing is they went from scoring a TD to terrible field position.
That happened at some small school last year. Guy caught a kickoff in the end zone and instead of downing the ball he just dropped it on the ground. I believe his team ended up losing by like 6 points.
I didn't think you could return a muffed punt. Anyway it went back to the spot of the fumble. I hopE not since he should be penalized for stupidity.
Wonder how it ended up, lol. Call reversed? Ended up punting? Scoring?
The Blue Board is just so classy.
Long live the South.
Ended up being a dead ball
If the punting team recovers a muffed punt, it's a dead ball, no matter which way he runs. Had he run it all the way back for a safety, Towson wouldn't have gotten any points, since the play was technically dead as soon as he recovered it.
Kent State got the ball first and goal at the 7 and ended up kicking a field goal.

As a fellow Kent State grad, I endorse this tweet...
Let's not get hung up on the particulars, can't we just be excited that a Kent State player ran for 58 yards? #GoFlashes
obvious joke was obvious
Don't both Kent St. And Towson play some SEC teams this year???
Soooooooo touchback or safety?
You talking about Goofs vs. UNLV? Touchback. A muffed punt isn't a fumble. What a muffed punt does is allow either team to possess the punt, with the stipulation that if the kicking team posses it, the ball becomes dead at the spot of possession. The muff by UNLV doesn't change the fact that as soon as a punt crosses the goal line, it's a touchback. Bizarre rule that I think will be looked at, but that's the rule.
Kent State was one of the best opponents on Bama's schedule in 2011.
