Steve Alfraud what an incredibly horrid hire. The guy has been to ONE sweet sixteen in his entire career. Why did you fire Howland again?
fsufsu said... I've got about 10 great stories on Lane but all you need to know is he will never be a loser, that's for sure.
No Bruin fans to make fun on on this board.
I am a little concerned about this hire since we're going to have to face him 2-3 times a year. Wish they would have done worse tbh.
You're not from the Midwest you don't know about him. But good to see your still chasing male anus
It's an awful hire for a place like UCLA. Trust me you have nothing to worry about
Do you mean Steve Alford? If so I agree this is a terrible hire.
Good point, we don't have national television here in the nations capital
Yeah because that's what I meant watching him coach on TV
What makes him a good coach?
The fact you hate him
He's done well at New Mexico and Mo state but he did horrible at Iowa. One tournament win in 10 years. Is that a good hire for a place like UCLA
Potentially great hire
What is happiness? The feeling that power is growing, that resistance is overcome.--Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche
He's not on UCLAs level if he wasn't good enough for Iowa
He actually did a good job at iowa. His problem there was people never liked him. His personality is not real people friendly so to speak. He came across as arrogant ,which people didn't like. He was doomed at iowa almost before he ever started. Not sure how that will play in Westwood. As far as coaching ability I think,he's a pretty good hire

Howland is interested in coaching immediately. Wonder if he goes back east.
How many big ten titles he win at Iowa? Not talking about tournament championships. He had a losing record against UNI and Northwestern at Iowa. So no he didn't do a good job. Yes on top of that he was an ass, so no one liked him.
Why would anyone want to go to Iowa? That place makes New Mexico look like UCLA.
wow you cannot spell
"Steve is the perfect fit for UCLA," said Bruins athletic director Dan Guerrero. "He is part of the storied history of the game of college basketball and understands the tradition and uniqueness of UCLA. Yet he also connects with a new generation of players and brings an up-tempo and team-oriented brand of basketball to Westwood."
(Steve Alford) whose team ranked 221st in adjusted tempo this season and lost to an Ivy League school in the Round of 64 of the NCAA tournament.
Other than they play in the big ten. They had a pretty solid basketball tradition after Lute Olsen and Tom Davis
This is a fantastic hire if you follow basketball even a little...
Please tell us why because he has done nothing in the tournament and that is all that matters. Not to mention he now has to deal with agents 24/7 and his previous places never had to deal with it
Everyone criticizing the hire, who should they have hired?
John Wooden from the grave apparently.
