i may have cursed the spurs by starting this thread
Is he really going to allow them to not make the playoffs? Really???
I Ain't got no Worries - Lebron James
Itll be interesting. Gotta figure they need to get to 45 wins or so to have a chance. 30-17 to finish the year is going to be tough especially if Dwight and Pau are out too long.
Thunder going to Staples on Friday. That is gonna be UGLY.
Howard looked fine jumping around and joking on the Pine tonight down by 17. He's a loser.
The Lakers suck and won't make the playoffs.
Dr Buss needs to relieve Jim of his duties yesterday....Jeanie needs to axe D'Antoni and threat to cut Phil off unless he's signs...
Phil wanted to sign. Y'all didn't want him.
Jim Buss is the only reason that Phil Jackson isn't the Lakers HC as we speak. I'm still not completely sure that Phil could have worked a miracle with this team.
i still cant believe they hired Dantoni. That was an obvious disaster instantly. This roster isnt one that works with him at all.
Everyone outside of Jim Buss saw this coming.
TBH the Lakers are going to be hamstrung by Kobe's contract until it expires.
After that need to do a whole rebuilding project. Get younger, get a bench, get more athletic. Unfortunately, they have made so many moves I don't think the Lakers have any draft picks outside of second rounders (whoop de do!) for the coming years.
I also think they need to shop Dwight in a sign and trade.
Also fire D'antoni. I don't think Phil was the right coach, but D'antoni certainly was the wrong one. Couldn't they have looked for an up and coming coach, or maybe someone good from the college ranks?

"Isn't it amazing what somebody will do when he can't bunt." - Vin Scully
I would trade Dwight to Brooklyn,
where he wants to go anyway, for Deron Willaims and Joe Johnson. Deron needs a change as well.
Haha at Dwight
It wasn't us, it was Jim Buss who made a half-assed "effort" to call Phil thinking he wouldn't be interested. When Phil was, Jim scrambled to get D'Antoni signed before a face to face meeting could be set up with Phil's agent.
Phil wouldn't have been a miracle worker with this team though. They are beyond help at this point.
I would love for that but I don't know if they can swing that money wise. I know the NBA has some tricky rules about money and I am not that up to date on all of them.
The thing about Dwight that bugs me is his attitude. I knew it would be a problem when he basically told Steve Nash to piss off when Nash approached him with free throw tips (and Nash at the time was .3% off the career record as best free throw shooter). He can't handle the LA media and won't ever succeed out here.
Pau is uncomfortable in the offense too and probably won't last here unless we move back to the triangle. However that won't happen as management chose to alienate him over moving to the triangle and alienating Steve Nash, so they won't go back now. Can probably ship him for some good pieces.
Ever since Dwight has joined the Lakers I have not watched one Lakers game other than when they got beat by the Magic.
Also I don't care what people say about post season vs regular season wins. This year the Clippers are the best team in LA. It also looks that way for the foreseeable future unless the Lakers perform a major overhaul.
Hence Jim exiting yesterday...IMO
Shit we were better off with Bickerstaff
The Clippers damn well might be the best team in the entire NBA. They are talented, but also deep.
I said before the season even with Dwight they were going to be bad on defense. Every Laker fan thought that Dwight would just erase all their defensive problems, but he can't. Nash is a horrible defender, Kobe is mediocre on that end now and has been for a couple seasons, Metta is a shell of his former self, Pau has never been known for his defense. Plus their bench blows.
I hope Phoenix enjoys our lottery pick this year.
Jordan was a crap defender at 34 also.
Where do I mention Jordan in my post? Where do I say Kobe sucks? Kobe is playing some of the best basketball of his life, and it's been amazing to watch. But he is also no longer a guy who can cover the best wing scorers in the game like he used to. Kobe needs some help, especially on that end and he's not getting it and that's why the Lakers are losing games. I'm not a Kobe hater, I am of what the Lakers are doing on defense.
I dont think they were expecting that type of return for the pick
So awesome, Lakers suck, might get lottery pick, and not be able to use it.
