Well that is at least one of about 15 reasons why the Lakers are losing games.
You didn't......just pointing out that age 34, it's almost impossible for wing players to play shut down D. Kobe can still play solid D when he wants to....but ya, it'll be an absolute travesty if he's voted to the All Defensive team again this year.
Main reason = Pau Gasol has a uterus
and the game plan for a team with 4/5 starters over 30 is to run the floor and try to out run other teams. Just isn't going to work.
love to watch them losse

Why would Brooklyn trade Williams and Johnson for Howard when [if they really actually want him] they could sign him as a FA this summer?
Not saying they would trade for him, but I highly doubt Dwight signs anywhere as a FA. With the NBA and Bird rights he will most likely be signed and traded somewhere because that is the only way he can get the max number of year and max amount of money on his contract.
For true stars worthy of max contracts that want those contracts, real free agency is almost dead.

For some guys...especially guys that can make lots of $ from endorsements, etc. to augment their contract $....it's not so much about the max contract $ as it is unfettered control as to their destination.
See LBJ and Chris Bosch.
Feel bad for Kobe this year.

This is hilarious.
Everyone tune in tomorrow night. Thunder head to Staples Center. Gonna get ugly.
6 in a row....
Very rough season so far for the team. Kobe is playing exceptional ball though... he's older, slower on defense, but he's shot the ball extremely well.

To bad for him that I don't see him ever making the playoffs again. The Lakers are going to get nothing but worse from this point on, and Howard isn't going to stick around either.
Good (actually great) career but sucks how it's going to end.
The Lakers are a has been. Also, I don't see what they saw in D'Antoni
Jim Buss wanted to be smarter than he really was and show that he could get it done without Phil Jackson.
I'm not an NBA fan in the slightest, but I thought the Dwight move was bad to begin with. That guy isn't a winner and doesn't understand what it means to be a champion or good locker room presence.
They're old, have a coach who's system doesn't mesh with the roster, and have a "star" player who's a punk and has shown he doesn't mind losing.
Just my two cents.
Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain't come to play SCHOOL, classes are POINTLESS
He can't have but two or three more years left in him. I don't see the Lakers getting any better than they are right now by then.
I always said Derek Fisher was the real key to all those rings and it appears I was right. Kobe hasn't sniffed a ring since he left. Fisher was the clutch one of the group.
It was a lot of fun watching Durant just destroy the Lakers last night. He knew nobody could guard him and played like it.

Fisher certainly was a huge part of that locker room. He was the other leader that acted as a counter balance to Kobe's ego.
They've barely played together as a full team. The Lakers definitely will get better, not enough to win a title, but they aren't going to be one of worst teams in the league.
