Fail boat ..at least Kobe can cuss him out in Italian so the children don't pick up on it...
We'll be lucky to win 20 games this year. NBA lottery should be fun to watch this year.
He must be a great interview or something, because his teams are just not that good.
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha. Best part is the "Jackson stunned"
Hire another proven loser.
At least you'll have more exciting games. Losing 130-120 is better than losing 90-85
Hearing Phil was gonna accept the job this morning but they decided on Dantoni. What a dumbass decision that was.
Yea no joke.. why would you rather sign a guy who has done nothing over the greatest NBA coach of our lifetime?
Lakers look like they are trying to be too smart for their own good.
He's the greatest of all time
I Ain't got no Worries - Lebron James
Seriously Phil wanted too much money? Really?
The tv contract they get covers their whole roster plus the luxury tax they owe. How do you not open the wallet for Phil Jackson??? FFS!
"Isn't it amazing what somebody will do when he can't bunt." - Vin Scully
ESPN said this morning that money was never discussed between Jackson and the Lakers. No way to know if that true or not though. But, hell yes he'd want and deserve a boatload of money. The guy has more championship rings than fingers. People like that don't come cheap. I really think the Lakers blew this one pretty badly.
somebody zapped my post.
i say trade everybody except dwight
just blow the whole team up
There should be a rule. No head coaches named Mike coaching the Lakers!
Yea seeing ESPN now about the lack of money. Still disappointing.
From what I've heard it wasn't so much money as it was player/roster control... Phil wanted total control... Still should have given it to him
How do you pick a guy that's been fired twice over Phil Jackson?
I guess they can always hire Jackson later this season when they fire D'Antoni
Two words. Jim Buss.
you Jim Buss.
On a scale of 1-10 how pissed is Kobe right now? I'm thinking 17ish...
Life long Lakers fan here. At first I was stunned along with Phil. But the more I think about it, I think it was a good decision. Why would you build a team for championships now, and then hire another system coach, when your players are already struggling to pick up a similar system? Put it this way. Kobe loves him some Phil Jackson. If he's excited about this hire, that's probably a good sign.
"I love him," Kobe Bryant said of D'Antoni via email early Monday. Bryant wouldn't comment on Jackson.
Hmmm... PR move or truth?
Turns Kobe into a Gunner D'Antoni likes scoring.. so does Kobe
How is a system that preaches running the floor and shooting 3s going to be a good style for a roster of guys 30+ and no shooters with a weak bench. This is gonna be hilarious.
That was my exact though. We had two tall guys that fit the triangle greatly. Granted the triangle minimizes Steve Nash's effectiveness, but this is not an athletic team or a team filled with spot shooters.
Maybe, its a big if but maybe, this will help the bench because the bench is awful for the triangle.
But still, I don't see how this works out in a good way.
