Per USC AD Pat Haden....
Several thoughts on this...
How the F does that get brought up??? Did they cross paths in the hallway, & Kiffin ask if he was getting fired?? Did Haden catch Kiffin crying in the lockeroom, & reAssured him his job??? Its been reported he told LFK he will be back, as long as he finds a nrw DC, & they may force him to hire an OC.
Pretty lame if you ask me, its obvious Lane sucks ass as a head coach. PreSeason #1, with a record of 7-4 wtf. Is that the worst fail in bcs history?? Now that Barkley is hurt, Kiffin will have that excuse as Notre Dame whoops us. 7-5, possibly 7-6 with a bowl loss, & hes back next year. Horrible.
Stanford, Oregon, and UCLA approve this message.
I am 86% sure that Monte "retires" after this season.
I would not mind in the least to go after Justin Wilcox at UW.
Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken
It is what it is.
I'm okay with Lane as either the HC or OC, but not both. He misses too much on the field while he is thinking of the next play to call. Barkley will just audible anyway.
Monte needs to go though.
You can't really replace the HC without an adequate replacement at the ready. Once sanctions are over, all bets are off.

Did Haden ever actually come out and say it or is it still Kiffin saying he spoke with Haden and Haden assured him he would be back next year?
Not saying the conversation didn't happen but would believe it a lot more if Kiffin wasn't the one that was reporting it

The D is clearly their biggest problem this year. That said, I think Lane is a tool and I have yet to see why he's been a head coach anywhere much less USC, Tenn, and Oakland.
You see that sign that says 'Rib Tips'??
It was confirmed.
I agree with zabba.
Why make that statement? When i hear that said it's normally folowed by a coaching search...
Yea it is normaly the kiss of death. But even if it isn't, maybe the AD is worried about attracting a quality HC while still dealing with scholarship restrictions? Maybe it is better to save your new hire for when the sanctions are over to get a clean start, instead of having the guy take over the team now when it is lacking depth and has no way to replace it.
Nope. One word auburn lol
Keep the class together
Michigan's AD said the same thing back in 2010 about Rich Rod, mid-season. How did that turn out?
11 National Titles | 42 Conference Titles | 3 Heisman Winners | 78 All-Americans | 37 College Hall of Fame Members
You have to look at finishing the season and keeping the recruiting class somewhat together. Besides that who is available out there to replace him at this time?
I think Haden is shopping around for a long term solution but he is willing to wait one year and see if 2011 was the anomaly or was it 2012.
Looks like another perfect day.
He will be on the Dan Patrick Show. Probably on the 11am/8am hour.
So we're taking Kiffins word as fact?
At the top of the 11est/8pst hour.
Wonder which DC will have to take the fall next year.

What is the consensus on Kiffin for the majority of SoCal fans? Still a good coach? or under achieving D-bag?
If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love.
Not if SoCal can prise Dabo away from Clem
He has major issues with team chemistry. He learned some bad habits from Pete Carroll about playing favorites and it came home to roost this season. There are "Kiffin's guys" and the rest of the team and it showed. Kevin Graf was a natural to move to LT last spring but he isn't one of "Kiffin's guys" so the offense suffers all year with a shlub at LT and it cost Barkley his last game at home. He also stretches the rules envelope like PC but in a petty and often silly way.
Kiffin can be a great play caller then just out think himself the next series. He gets so caught up in trying to be clever that he loses sight of what's working and drives stall and turnovers happen. I think he will end up an OC in the pros after he screws USC up for another season. Having met him in a social setting i don't hold the common SEC view that he's a dick, he was very pleasant to talk with. He just is a little to driven at coaching and never learned that it can be rewarding on different levels than wins and losses.
Good, I like seeing USC fail
It's not like LSU has a brain trust at coach. Rave on Les.
Kiffin is a terrible POS of a man and coaches just like it. His teams are terribly undisciplined. His teams have no fundamentals. His team is basically right out of a playstation console where its all glitz and glamour but no substance. In that aspect, he's perfect for Hollywood where there isn't a single tit that is real.
You best, they'd be whipping the SEC's ass back to 1999 if they actually had a coach.
Edit: I mean ANY team in the SEC.
