Cheese grits put oatmeal to sleep you yankees.
Although I know this should be easy, I'll let the board decide. What you got?
Stay thirsty my friends......
im torn... I love cheese grits but im a Yankee... where is the fence?
I guess there is none. Either pick grits or oatmeal.
Edit: I honestly don't consider Midwesterners yankees TBH. I lived in Indiana for 8 years and there isn't a ton of difference.

damn! ok if its cheese grits ill take grits. Oatmeal is wonderful but I got turned onto grits a couple years ago...
I'm not a Yank but I'd have said oatmeal until very recently. Never thought grits had much flavor when i was growing up. But when my lady made some proper grits I was floored; i have since been converted. Being a true southern gal, i guess she knows how to make them right.

Here is your answer
Southern politicians compelled to feed the poor and homeless loaded carriages and wagons with grits even though there is little to no nutritional value then add butter or lard....
Oatmeal for the un-fat
So you're saying oatmeal?
pure flavor: grits win, as a savory dish i think they have more possibilities
from a health perspective though Leppycole, Oatmeal is better for you. As a sweet dish i think it's flavor is limited. Best homemade oatmeal i have prepared is with fresh blueberries, little bit of cinnamon.

Yeah - I would put Cream of Wheat in front of Grits.
But maybe it is because the grits served in the chow line at the mess hall were not prepared as you guys are saying.
I don't know how the grits were served in the mess hall. I personally slow cook them for thirty minutes or so at about 4 times liquid per one part grits (stone ground). When they are close (about 5 minutes) I stir in about a cup of grated sharp cheddar and two tablespoons of butter along with a LOT of pepper and a bit of salt.
They are both disgusting.
Oatmeal is nasty, grits are pretty good.

I think it is more a texture thing, but both make me want to vomit. Oatmeal reminds me of that plaster of paris crap that you used in grade school to make world globes over balloons.
Shrimp and grits is bomb.
I like both, but oatmeal is better.

Grits are killing it at this point.
My taste-buds, like everything else about me, are refined.
Your opinion doesn't count. You eat whatever the fvck Gonig puts in front of your face.
we gotta all nighter potential in this piece...
I dream of a day when chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned.
Shrimp and cheese grits.
