Best college town anymore!
Our third annual list of the best college towns looks at cities where the college plays an integral part of the economy and culture. We ranked the cities according to the ratio of students to residents, cost of living and entertainment options. You'll be surprised by what we found.

Blacksburg, VA? Live-able?
Wow. #10-- alone-- ruins credibility of that list.
Terrible list. Not that I'd ever go there but the Utah State campus was the best looking to me from the pictures shown.

Look at the 2010 list and the 2012 list... only two towns are represented on both lists. That is laughable... towns don't change that dramatically in two years where 80% of the list is different.
No Madison... Ann Arbor and Athens below Logan, Utah.... That's all I need to see. Trash.
I would rather live in Logan, UT than any of the towns you mentioned. Did you see the view from that pic!? A more puzzling question would be how Boulder, CO or Colorado Springs, CO got left off.
I agree with the second poster though about Blacksburg, VA. Not sure why anyone would want to live somewhere where you are more likely to get shot than learn.
That was pretty low....
No it wasn't. There has been stuff like that happen more than once on that campus. No lower than saying Detroit or New Orleans is a dangerous city in certain areas. It's just facts. Nothing personal against Blacksburg but that would have to be taken into account when ranking the most liveable college towns IYAM.

you obviously never been there
It's not a fact at all. VT is no more dangerous than any other similar campus and to reference Detroit and New Orleans in your explaination is a joke. The crime rate in Blacksburg is far below the national average, and well below the average for VA. You don't have the "facts" right at all.
Except it's not a fact.
Blacksburg crime statistics including violent and property crime rates, with murder, rape, assault, arson, larceny, burglary and car theft data reports. Blacksburg, Virginia crime report (VA).
Just used those as a point maker, not comparing crime rates. And yes there have been problems with campus shootings in Blacksburg this is indeed a "fact". Like I said it's just my opinion of what I would consider liveable. To each their own.
Over your head try again.
It is nice scenery, but liveability is highly negotiable.
Basing where you want to live off of a pic.
Not over my head. I lived there and it is very safe.
Please explain why.
hah...Just saying it looks gorgeous. I'm partial to snowy mountain towns as well.
You can't say "(n)ot sure why anyone would want to live somewhere where you are more likely to get shot than learn" and then totally ignore crime rates. That is just silly.
I'm sure you would never say the same thing about Tuscaloosa... even though crime rates in nearly every catagory are higher than the national average and WAY above Blacksburg. Frankly, if I was worried about my safety, Blacksburg is way more attractive.
That's cool man, to each their own. Tuscaloosa is definitely sketchy in certain areas. Around campus is very safe (que the jokes about football players). I mean you don't have to wear a vest to class and all.
It's just not funny bro. It's kind of a sick joke.
Don't agree... Oxford is definately better than college station
Sorry but I take personal offense to your lame jokes. I was a student during the VT massacre and lost classmates that day. And I can honestly say that besides that day, I always felt there.
College Station?????? What a dip.
quite the pc list.... choosing from all over the nation there....
surprised boulder isn't on the list.
