MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com
Things heating up
Pirates sign Russell Martin
Mets extend David Wright
BJ Upton to the Braves
Nats trade for Spann.
Don't be jelly
Looking forward to see who we pursue at LF. Span was a possibility but not anymore.
Side note: BJ talked about how he and Justin want to play together. Won't be for another 3 years when Justin's contract is up though
HAHAHAHAHA Seriously bro I feel for you guys. Uggla and BJ in the same lineup will make you want to blow you're brains out. Top3 defensive center fielder in the game, but his hitting is putrid. Justin can be had for pitching.
Im interested as to whats going on with Youkilis, AJ Piersynski, Nick Swisher, Victorino, and others. The Braves are really idiots though. The paid BJ a 5yr 75 mil deal. The next closest team was Philly at 5yrs 55mil. They paid an extra 20 mil. they coud have used some of that for Victorino, Swisher, or others.
Gotta have faith man.
Your jellyness is showing
We shall revisit this at the AllStar break
Not a big fan of BJ at 15 mill per. Too inconsistent IMO for that type of money.
12 of his 28 HR's came in one month.
you jelly, just ask Ichabod
Welp...we got BJ. The only thing for me to decide now is take the indefinite sabbatical, or still watch them/go to games and just talk mad shit the whole time like Randy Quaid in Major League 2. Thoughts?

I say get an Upton/Uggla two headed monster tattoo
Don't have to watch Hanson decline anymore thank
Call it a decline but trading a potential #3 starter who could throw over 180 innings for your team fora setup guy who throws 50-65 is dumb. Braves got fleeced.
"People always ask me if I wish I were bigger. I tell them no. I always wanted to be a miniature badass." Dustin Pedroia
Hanson sucks...i would have been happy with a ball boy at this point...dude was a #6 starter this year and was getting worse by the day
Well maybe on your team he's a 6 but if you look across baseball he is still above average and isn't expensive. Awful trade. No reason you couldnt get more than somebody who only throws 50ish innings.
Freed up 4 million.
In all honesty for someone who can't hold runners at all (any decent base stealer should go first to third with little resistance), has had nearly a 7mph drop in velocity, a funky delivery that puts stress on his arm and a history of injuries in a brief amount of time I'm surprised that got what they did. They should have traded him last off-season. I'm pleased they got a hard thrower in the back of the pen in return as we don't know which Venters we will get.
It takes Hanson like 2 full games for other starters to get through 4 innings. I didn't even watch when he pitched last year. Taking every hitter to full count or worse if they're fouling off pitches lulls everyone to sleep behind him and kills defense/momentum.
I know that's probably not very sabremetric of me because it's emotional and not statistically quantifiable, but its true.
Man I just don't know. I know about his health issues and his velo lose, 3 not 7, but in general it's a bad move trading someone who has 3rd starter potential for a guy who is going to pitch the 7th inning for you. I know it's good to save 4 million but wouldnt it be just as easy to not have Paid Upton 4 mill more than the second highest bidder? I guess the Braves know more about Hansons medicals than any other team but I wouldn't be surprised if Hanson goes there and pitches 175 innings with a sub 4.00 Era. Which is above average.
Dan Haren to the Nats. Meh
Shane Victorino to Boston for 3 years, $39 million.
I like this move for the Rays. He can catch for us which we desperately needed. Shields would be gone after this year anyways. Ill take the reigning Minor League POTY
Indians signed Mike Reynolds ... this constitutes a big FA pickup for them. They're pushing for Swisher as well. I guess I'll take what I can get.

I'll take the K's. Indians haven't had someone who can cause some fireworks since Hafner was healthy. Anyone they invest their money in decides to perpetually get injured. Hafner and Sizemore being the prime examples. Invested in them instead of CC and Lee, even tho CC was always going to leave.
