I'm looking for an answer to one question. I see predictions from the majority of opposing fanbases on this game stating this will be a blowout and will be over at halftime. As a rational MSU fan I don't predict we will beat Bama but we'll have our chances and with a couple of breaks we could steal this game. The score of the Bama game last year was 24-7. Mississippi State has gotten better and has a competent QB unlike last year. Has Bama gotten that much better to think this will be a much larger blowout? Headed into the 4th quarter last year: BAMA 10 MSU 0; LSU 9 MSU 6. Please tell me why this won't be a game going into the 4th.
If you make a mistake early or allow us an easy six like Tennessee did, then the pressure is on which might cause Russell to make a few bad decisions as he's shown he can do. If that's the case, it's blowout city. You have to think we were extremely dejected last year the week after losing to LSU.

Because your team blows
"We didn't play well last year"-Saban said in his interview that Bama played well at MSU last year. Interesting
"You have to think we were extremely dejected last year the week after losing to LSU."- I thought teams were pissed off and re-focused coming off of a loss? I guess you use whichever excuse helps support your argument.
Keep them coming.
When you lose a game at home and very possibly a shot at the national title despite totally outplaying said team, yeah I can imagine there being some slight dejection.
In your OP you claimed to be a rational MSU fan...lulz. Your tone in this response would suggest otherwise. Whether all or none of the alleged "excuses" are true, we still beat you by two and a half touchdowns. So what exactly is your point?
How can you be MSU fan without dawg as part of your screen name, thought that was mandatory?
Without self-knowledge there is no individuality
haha I think all the dawg screen names were taken. I guess on this board I'm considered delusional to think MSU will keep it close but lose in the fourth quarter. This is a different offense than what Bama has seen from MSU in a long time. Our QB is a player and will make enough plays to score 14-17 points. I don't see Bama scoring more than 28-31 on our defense. A few breaks and we will have a chance to win the game.
I thought Bama beat MSU 49-7 in a bowl game a few years back? Same score this time.
I have no problem with most of what you just said. However, for you as a State fan to say "I guess you use whichever excuse helps support your argument," is a bit much. LMAO. Exactly what do we as Alabama fans really need to argue for right now? This season is a long way from over, but I believe our record over the last several years speaks for itself.
Is Mississippi St really that much better than last year? I think the teams they have played in the SEC just have been that much worse than last year. If they had played LSU, Georgia, and South Carolina by now this year as they did last year, they would be 4-3, IMO. This year they have had Auburn, Kentucky, and Tennessee, with Auburn being the only one that was more than a 2 TD game. The OOC games last year were Memphis (59-14), LaTech (26-20), UAB (21-3), and Tenn-Martin (55-17). Has anyone actually been more impressed with Troy (30-24), South Alabama (30-10), MTSU (45-3), and Jackson St (56-9)? Looks about the same to me.
I think that in 3 weeks when Mississippi St is 7-3, my point will be made. They finish 9-3, maybe 8-4 as they could easily lose to one of Arkansas and Ole Miss, because they play the same lousy OOC schedule, Auburn and Arkansas are just awful this year, and they substitute Georgia and South Carolina with Tennessee and Kentucky. That is the difference from 6-6 before the bowl last season. That 6-6 team was better than people though, but this 7-0 team is worse than what the polls say, as I think most people know they aren't that good.
Mullen deserves a lot of credit though. Even 6-6 at Miss St is an accomplishment. Now he just needs to add one decent OOC game and still get there consistantly.
I was simply stating that there is no real evidence that Bama played poorly. Both teams had one interception and both teams missed field goals. Bama couldn't run the ball in the first half and slowly began running the ball more effectively deep in the second half.
There was one big difference between the teams entering the game. Alabama had just lost the biggest regular season game of the year to LSU and Miss St had just gotten done with a obvious slugfest with Tennessee-Martin.
If Troy can put up 24 and Tennessee can up 31, I guarantee you Alabama can out up 31+. With the Mississippi St run defense, we may not even have to pass to do it either.
Oh, and if Miss St gets a few breaks, they may have a chance to keep it close.
The game is in Alabama this year. Big difference
I love when teams have hopes and dreams when they come to play us. The feeling and enjoyment I get while watching those dreams go up in smoke is awesome.
It is even more fun when it is a game like Michigan though when they have all offseason to convince themselves they have a chance. We really need Virginia Tech to finish on a high note this year so that they can have a reason to dream the impossible dream.
I'll agree that we haven't proven much as of yet but all we can do is beat the teams we play. The same can be said for Alabama. We have treated the season up until now as a preseason resting players and getting a ton of reps for backups(excluding the UT and Auburn game). The biggest difference is that we are no longer a run first team. In the past we didn't have a QB capable of making plays in the passing game but now we have a legitimate threat at QB and more weapons at receiver. Bama fans should be familiar with the name Malcolm Johnson who went to high school in Tuscaloosa. He is a real miss match at tight end and will be targeted a lot in this game along with Chad Bumphis who is an athlete that can hold is own against anyone. Our defense is built to play against the Bama's and LSU's which has been proven in the past. We have a big d line and physical linebackers with improved depth in these areas. Darius Slay and Johnthan Banks are NFL caliber corners and have a lot more athletic ability to make plays in space then MSU has had at these positions in the past. I say this to point out that we are a solid improved team that is capable of hanging with Bama and making it a close game. We should not be defined by this game alone and win or lose we have a legitimate shot to knock off LSU this year because they are one dimensional and don't present the passing threat that Bama does. I'll be at BDS and am looking forward to the weekend.
You are such an ass!
rollBAMAballs-Here is your post from another thread. Is it 80 or 67?
Ms st closes down athletic dept following game and Mullen becomes a GA for saban"
Obviously he just changed his opinion
but he was delusional when he said Mullen would be a GA for Saban
We wouldn't hire that schmuck
Lines move. Maybe he has insider information.
LOL at MSU beating LSU.....
lol maybe, but I would make those lowercase letters and not the big version, IMO. 12-10 vs Auburn shows how bad things can be for LSU.
