Brown is far from dead. He’s alive and kicking heading into his 16th season as the Texas coach, with no fear of being told he is no longer the Texas coach. He’s that confident school president Bill Powers and athletic director DeLoss Dodds have his back, even if some fans are agitating for change.
“I’m not going to [be fired],” he said flatly.
From Yahoo! Sports: UT fans that want Brown to move on will be disappointed to hear about the coach's aspirations.
He and Bobby Bowden must be friends.
Bowden all over again. His arrogance is rising as his abilities diminish. Sorry Tex fans, this will be slow and painful.
Texas, don't make the same mistake Iowa did.
So.....Saban to Texas in 2021
Only 8 years Longhorns until you can be competitive!
10 Major Poll National Titles (CFB record)
35 Bowl Wins (CFB record)
72 Wins over last 6 years (CFB record)
He acts like he has the accomplishments of Bowden and should be on the MT Rushmore of CFB coaches.
best news I've read all day
Live and Breathe "The Process"
With the resources Mack Brown has at his disposal, it is disgusting how much he has underachieved.
Had Tim Riggins and Smash, Tweeter, right in his back yard and never recruited them. They should have hired Coach Taylor before he moved back east.
Which lasts longer ... Mack Brown or LHN?
Mack Brown may think he's not going to get fired, but Texas isn't FSU. His ass will be gone if he loses to OU badly again, or has another 8-4 type season.
"Who cares about your legacy". Clearly he doesn't. Nor does he care about running Texas into the ground. He's "having fun". Getting blown out to your main rival by 900 points every year is fun? Don't really get it. sorry Tex fans, that sucks to hear. I actually like UT. Hopefully you guys tank this year or someone snipes him from the stands. My money is on the ladder.
Amazing. The SEC era in Texas has arrived.
It's probably not gonna fly if OU scores 60 against him for like the 4th time.
I support Mack Brown, I'd sign any petition to keep him

oh you ..
starting to wonder if he's a sooner manchurian plant.
Once Deloss is gone so is Mack imo. 2 more years and if he wins a couple conference championships he might sucker the next AD into giving him another year to make a NC run. 0% chance he's still coaching in 2020 imo.
Texas has everything ti needs to be THE dominate program in all of college football. They need to get into the SEC (would be HUGE) or the PAC12. Then they need to fire Mack yesterday. Kirby Smart would be my pock although I do not want to loose him. Do that and Texas is playing for a NC in 3 years tops.
"Because Bama now sucks just like FSU used to suck when we were getting dominated by OU. Does it make sense now?"- Sliger (FSU Fan)
Mack is 17 wins from becoming the winningest coach in Texas history. He's not going anywhere until he breaks that.
Texas isn't going to hire a guy whose never been a head coach before, whether they should or not is not part of the conversation because I can gaurantee you Smart will not be hired. I'd rather have Strong anyway. Totally agree with moving to the SEC, would love to see it happen.
Nick Saban won't be happy about this....
Even if Mack was planning on retiring tomorrow, it's not like he would tell a reporter.
he was our offensive coordinator under Switzer in 1984, the year before our national title
so anything's possible
Kirby is about to be one of the best HC's in the league here in a few years. You Watch. He's also our best recruiter. With him at the helm standing behind Texas and that, that would be something to fear.
I think Texas goes 10-2 this year with losses to OU and TCU and the RRR game this year will be much closer, I think OU wins by between a touchdown.
OU will finish 10-2 as well this year but could go 9-3 with losses to ND, TCU and maybe Ok St
