That may very well be true, but until he gets out of Saban's shadow and wins as a head coach Texas will not make a run at him. It's as simple as that.
C'mon. Are you people smoking the wacky weed? The next Texas head football coach will be Gary Patterson. And UT will back up the Brinks truck to get him.

OK. Who would you say that is a better option at this point? Within means, obviously.
"Because Bama now sucks just like FSU used to suck when we were getting dominated by OU. Does it make sense now?"- Sliger (FSU Fan)
Whoever the 6A champion Texas high school head coach is would be a better coach than Brown. Brown is tuuuuurible
10 Major Poll National Titles (CFB record)
35 Bowl Wins (CFB record)
72 Wins over last 6 years (CFB record)
Might take him 3 yrs to get 17 wins.
I'm afraid you guys are stuck with him at Bama for at least 5 more season. Probably more
Mack Brown is gone after this year. I don't see Texas doing anything to change that this year IMO. Texas fans should rejoice.
Are among the three I see Texas going after. Pure speculation obviously.
Try_Brown leaves after the 2014 season. Saban's salary had been set at the end of last season if he came to Texas, Mack wouldn't let go.
Any coach in the country is within the means of Texas, personally I would back up the truck to bring Will back as I would imagine outside of a few staff changes, he would keep the majority of it.
I don't understand your logic. Will Muschamp was never a head coach before either and they had him CIW.
So what do A&Mers call the Longhorns like we call Auburn fans Barners?
As a 'Texas' alum, our fan base is well aware of our luck in striking oil that has benefited UT.
Not to mention, in watching what Leach did at Texas Tech was amazing. imo...Leach was doing more with less than any coach in the nation. A #4 Cal learned their lesson the hard way when playing Leach in a bowl game. Had a good idea what Leach could do against any team in the nation on any Saturday, in particular collegiate teams going against him in a Bowl Game. He gave us hell.
Came over to wish Washington State the best during the 2013 season, y'all have the coach that will turn you into contenders.
Nick Saban will never coach at UT. Doesn't have the intangibles - like a personality. Mack will coach for two more seasons, then Major Applewhite will take over. You heard it here first!
And the longhorn nation just put a gunbarrel in their mouth.
First off, I think Mack stays til DD is done(whenever that will be), as far as the next guys in line? Your foolin yourself if you think coaches wont be salivating for that job, but a few that I could see working now or next year are:

Will is about to get fired at UF in the next few years. You don't want him
And no, not any coach. C'Mon man
Can't say I like many of those hires. Oh well, guess we'll see.
I swear, I think some of you people were born 3 years ago. Mack had Texas in the NC race for the 10 seasons prior to that. There might only be a handful of coaches with Mack's accomplishments.
Gene Chizik went 14-0 and then was fired 2 years later.
Look, Mack Brown is crap. Bottom line, he just doesn't work hard.
Mack is a great guy, great coach, and a great asset to the Longhorns. He has done enough to deserve to retire on his own terms... whenever that may be. 2030 IMO.

When stacked up against the history of aggy, yes he's done plenty.
I agree. Don't think Mack will stay too long. He's smarter than that. I think he cares about his legacy. He'll break Coach Royal's record, then retire, (unless he's winning like he did). Besides, he's got the AD job waiting for him.
He's a great addition for aggy. Good thing Texas has 4-5 RB's in 2015 that are as good or better than Bradford. None of which help add to aggy football history vs. Mack Brown.
Can't believe I'm gonna say it but.... This ^^^
I dream of a day when chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned.
