Let's get a conversation going on the game's most crucial position. Florida State's situation could not be more well broken down than the link given does.
I am hoping Coker turns the corner in knowledge of the scheme and that FSU goes into the fall with he and Winston battling it out and Trickett set to start for UCF, USF, Samford, the like.
Where does your battle stand. Obviously you can participate if your starter is known but the backup battle is key as well, such as at UF and Miami
Who will be Florida States starting quarterback? Clint Trickett? Jacob Coker? Jameis Winston?
The sooner Clint transfers then the sooner his dad leaves FSU, and man that would bring a smile to my face
fsufsu said... I've got about 10 great stories on Lane but all you need to know is he will never be a loser, that's for sure.
We have our starter obviously, but the battle for number 2 will be interesting. The winner is in prime position to start the 2014 season after AJ graduates. The candidates are Blake Sims (rJR), Alec Morris (rFR), Cooper Bateman (FR), and Phillip Ely (rSO).
Sims has gone back and forth between RB and QB but I don't think he is a legit SEC QB. He can run with the best of them, but unless he honed his passing skills he will get passed IMO.
Alec Morris has looked good but is young. I think right now he is our number two guy and future starter. He's huge and mistaken as a LB or TE by many. Great arm, he just needs to get his footwork and accuracy down.
Bateman is in for Spring and will compete for the spot but will probably redshirt. Unless he just kills it, that seems like it will be the case. He will seriously compete with Morris a year from now for the number one spot. His development between now and next Spring will determine his future. He looks good from those who have seen him throw and they think he has the tools to unseat Morris.
Ely.....will transfer after this year

We'll probably have a 2 headed QB all year .
Shaw is a dual threat who hesitates to avoid mistakes and has earned the right to hold his starting spot.
Thompson is a take his steps and rip it guy, i.e. Spurrier's type of QB, who stepped up in some big games last year who has earned the right to some playing time.
It should be equal parts exciting and frustrating. Our board will be obnoxious once most people pick which QB they side with.
We have a true sophomore who played like 10 snaps last year, a JUCO transfer (also sophomore), and then Hackenberg coming in the summer. It's pretty wide open, but I think Hack ends up taking a redshirt. Not sure who will end up starting this year, will be fun to watch all spring and summer. Nobody has any idea what any of the three will look like in live action.
There is no backup battle at UF. None of our backups at UF caliber. If Staver comes in and is the same way, then we're going pure Wildcat with Burton if Driskel goes down.
Better practice that wildcat then cause Driskel's goin down for the count on Sept 7
We're not gonna play Driskel on that date. We're gonna trot out our powderpuff team.
Yes he did
Auburn will have 5 QB's battling.
I think Nick Marshall will win... and will be nasty in the Malzhan offense.
Good thinking on Musty's part
No sense getting your starters racked when the L is coming either way
at a five quarterback "battle"
do they seriously all equally suck that bad?
I'm sure our QB battle will come down to two a days with Jimbob giving a ton of herp derp
I expect Coker or Winston to start.... leaning more towards Winston
Nick Marshall is a very good athlete who has a great arm... if he's not thug'n he will be a good QB imo
Florida and Miami's backups are scary but hey, that's college football. If you want to follow football where the backups are ready to go when called upon every time then watch Sundays.
Alabama's situation is scarier that most admit going into 2014. Alec Morris is meh and so is Bateman. Much like I expected most of the scouts not associated with Alabama itself said Bateman looked like a average QB prospect from Utah at the All Star game. JMO JMO JMO JMO
Fwiw FSU fans always wanted Marshall and thought he was a beast. He is a perfect fit for Malzhan. Why isn't it him versus Khiel straight up?

Don't you think there was a reason UGA wanted him at DB and not QB?
Coker is an upper class white kid that went to a private school and made great grades.....not sure why folks keep saying he doesn't retain the offense. He seems to have that Christian Ponder disease where he can do anyone's homework but on the field you'd think he was a 16 ACT guy.
It almost needs to be Winston.
don't you think there's a reason Jimbo wanted Marshall as a QB??
UGA wanting him to play DB just shows his athletism
What ? the things you tell yourself
I'm a huge Coker fan and have been since he committed, but from what I heard Black Jesus is the truth
Did I read that right? He's a white kid so he is obviously smart?
This is one of those times where I actually dont even know what you are laughing at. Expound.
Where do you get the idea he can't pick up the offense... wait, let me guess... you read it somewhere ?
And Im laughing harder at you saying it " needs " to be Winston
