When I was in Berlin during '06, a kid ran through the brand news train station, opening night, and stabbed 15-20 people. One of the first 3-4 people he stabbed had aids.
You can't stop crazy from being crazy. You probably think I'm lying but google it. That shit happened. Grand opening of the new train station to begin the World Cup.
My wife seen some guy in wal-mart with a shoulder holster (gun on each side) she got scared and immediately left.
And if we get out of Vietnam they'll go back to happy time when Americans weren't interfering with the genocide of hundreds of thousands of indo-chins.
Funny how proportionally, Arizona has equal amounts of crime as Illinois in fact burglary is more common in Arizona than Illinois, even though Illinois doesn't yet have a conceal carry law, and Arizona does.
All I'm saying is that the perception of having a weapon will cause people to think twice is wrong. People will act accordingly, because as free human beings they will do what they think is right and in their best interest, regardless of what you have.
Prohibiting guns would actually make them. EXACTLY like drugs, I've bought an illegal gun...felt like a drug deal
Poverty and other socio-economic factors far outweigh the availability of guns. Better educated states have better gun laws than those that aren't...most violence stems from poverty, not just because violence is fun and kids are bored.
I'm about to get me a couple more
Christ, we had this same debate after the Aurora shooting. How hard is it to understand that, for the people sick in the head enough to shoot up a public place, the concept of people shooting back wouldn't deter them? A good portion of these sickos are suicidal anyways. The possibility of someone shooting back acts as a deterrent for a rational mind, and the people determined to shoot up a mall or a movie theater aren't even remotely rational.
I'm not even going to start on the issue of collateral damage from multiple shooters.
Just to add to this. I've never shot a hand gun in my life. But I've emptied a clip of a fully auto M5. It's really not that hard and will only exacerbate the arms industry to prohibit it.
make sure you actually kill them if you do shoot them.... don't wanna get sued
“If you remember me, then I don't care if everyone else forgets.” ― Haruki Murakami
Most intelligent comment ITT.
Add the fact that these mentally challenged individuals aren't smart enough to acquire non readily available weapons if prohibited. Too stupid & socially lazy as they live in a fantasy world.
Do you even know what deterrence is? Your post would suggest otherwise.
He's saying killing psychos about to go on a rampage won't prevent other psycho's from doing the same. Most psychos who do this stuff either kill themselves or shoot until cops kill them, there probably is no fear of death so other psychos getting killed prolly wouldn't deter them.
Nah you used the right word, just had a different context, deterring them from taking innocent lives, because if an insane person wants to do others harm there's not much you can do to stop them beforehand. Only prevent them from taking lives once they try
The inference that 'these individuals' are stupid and lazy is in fact, stupid and lazy. They might not have college educations like the rest of us but they know how to survive and will do whatever it takes to eat. If you think a gun ban will deter that then I suggest you sleep with the lights on.
The fact that I threw Sullkev under the bus just now makes me think of something when he says "mentally challenged". Every post I've made so far has been regarding crime, not lunatics executing mass murders. Those you can't prepare for and a gun ban would actually limit those so he is technically correct. But 'deadly assault' is very vague, more people would use knives or whatever and "crime" would not see a drop.
"Kill these dumb a@@es before they have the chance to kill."
You just gonna go around putting a bullet in the head of everyone that looks suspicious?
Knowing people have guns isn't going to stop these people. Most kill themselves and would be just fine with people shooting back at them end result is they are dead either way. The guy in Aurora is the exception to the rule and a rare one at that. Gun violence is going to happen whether everyone has guns or if no one has guns. Psychopaths are gonna do fvcked up stuff, they always have and always will.
I understand where you are coming from but in that circumstance I would much rather have something to protect myself then be completely defenseless. As you said if a psychopath wants a gun he is going to get one so why not have something to protect yourself? Ill take my chances with a gun then hoping that the psychopath chooses not to look in my direction as I sit there defenseless
imagine everyone is carrying guns, person goes to a bar, now your average bar fights are turning into shootings far more than normal.
The odds of being involved in a mass shooting like this are pretty small. If everyone is carrying you are much more likely to have someone get pissed/drunk and make an impulse choice with the weapon they are carrying.
There isn't a great solution to this issue and there are consequences every way.
carrying in a bar is a felony in most states. I AM pro gun but not every gun. That law was put into place in the event of a foreign invasion which for the most part has worked. As long as Americans are armed Mexico, Cuba and Canada will never attack.
I dream of a day when chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned.
You have the right to defend yourself. Concealed carry laws benefit both those who choose to defend themselves by carrying and those who choose not to carry (the criminal has no idea who carries and study after study shows that fear of the armed citizen is above that of the law for criminal - actually top fear). Now, the person who chooses to carry is still responsible for their actions. If you have a CC license, it does not mean that you can "track" the criminal down and eliminate him. I does mean that as you drop behind wall/storefront X for cover, you do have the means to defend yourself from the criminal.
Now with that being said, nothing will stop batshit crazy people from doing bad things. It is easy to make a big bomb, use a vehicle as a weapon, poison food...It would help if the media stopped plastering these events all over the news. Part of the reason some of these loons do this is they are upset that nobody notices them or they aren't taken seriously. They want to end their lives, but "show us" first (ie kill a bunch of people and get on the news/noticed by whoever). Not putting this all over the news is in direct oppostion to the mainstream media's desire for gun control and our desire for bad news (good news doesn't sell as well).
It is what it is, but I am not worried about any new gun laws right now (GOP controlled House).
called 'total' depravity of man kind. google the phrase.
