Why is he still in there after 4 months for nothing??
Haven't heard of this but if true I hope somebody steps in and gets him released....but it's not like we've never detained people for "no reason"...some people years with no charges.
State Department needs to step in. Freaking guy was declaring his gun like he supposed to and this happens to him.
Hey Hillary Pick up the phone!
Surprised that this is the first that I have ever even heard about this. You would think that people would have been up in arms if the dude was innocent as you said he was.
They must hate Americans
Danielle Hunter, Jamario Rasco, Anthony FREAK Johnson.. DL wrecking crew of 2013.
What did Mountie do?
Beatings will continue until morale improves

The plight of Marine veteran Jon Hammar, who has been in a Mexican prison for four months on what is being called a trumped-up federal weapon charge has gained social media momentum, with a growing campaign calling for his release.
that's Marine Mounty.
he likes the mexican jail... hell, he's still posting from there
www.yohoodent.com ... errybawdee awn ignorle
I agree something should be done but he did something illegal in their country. They have their own laws and as Americans you have to abide by them when you are going there.
He lika da penis?
nawl, man... that's MEXICAN jail...
they bring whores in there for the inmates that can pay
Taco's and Tijuanan whores? Sign me up.
Spent a night in Mexican jail, will never poop the same.
What law did he break exactly? He isn't a gunrunner. The gun was an antique for crying out loud and he turned it in.
Did you read the story? He is in jail for having "military weapons" which the Mexican military says they have never used. The weapon also meets all standards to be classified as a hunting weapon. He was also only transiting through the country and presented the weapon to customs. It wasn't like he got caught with a randomn assault rifle that he illegally smuggled in. He was transiting the country with a shotgun for hunting presented it to customs and despite their own laws was inprisoned indefinitely in a state jail run by two cartels.
You're right makes complete sense(sarcasm).
The only truth is that when going to other countries you should understand that there is no right and wrong or fair like there is in the US. Thats the only thing you can count on... He should not have assumed the right of law would protect him in a country such as Mexico.
I had a couple older buddies that got caught with some shotgun shells crossing the mexican border and got arrested and sent to a mexican jail. They ended up having to call some Mafia guys they knew in laredo, and these guys rolled up to the jail with shoeboxes full of cash. They paid off guards, the DA, the judge, everybody.
LULZ at thinking there is fairness in the US.
Hell yea, the power of TBB wins again
Agree with this for sure.
Was shocked to see the dude shackled to his bunk though. That one is new.
His family got the American consulate to get him out of the general population which is run by a drug cartel. The cartel actually called the family at their home, put their son on the phone, and threatened to kill him unless they paid money.
He has been held in an area away from the general pop which isn't secure so that is why he is chained.
The whole ordeal stinks like a third world Mexican jail.
That would be the squids! Not Marines, even the female Marines do not like penis...lol
Happens all the time. Thats why you always travel with penthouse, playboy, and swank in your car or motorcycle. Got to bribe the cops somehow.
So he didn't have a gun on him?
In Mexico? I actually don't know their laws.
