So from this last signing cycle lets look at the top prospects from Miami.
Denver Kirkland- Miami pulls their scholarship offer because he wants to play the media game with MT6 and commit on NSD. They don't need OL and know MT6 isn't a Cane so they cancel his scholarship. Kirkland and his coach take to twitter throwing a bish fit and use the media get a scholarship back... For Kirkland to turn down.
Matthew Thomas- He signs up to headline the live announcements on ESPN. He isn't ready after visiting a half dozen schools and being recruited for two years so he picks FSU. Then three months after NSD when all of the back ups recruits have long since signed with other schools he blames signing with FSU on his out of town mother and goes to the media to makea bish fit to get his way. (the funny thing is him wanting out of his NLI is the opposite of his buddy Kirkland but they try accomplishing the deed the same way)
Alex Collins- He plays the media game and announces that he wants to be a Arky razorback. His mother wants him to stay close to home so she refuses to sign his NLI. He quickly becomes a top NSD story and joke, the issue is resolved when his father signs for him. His mother is still trying to void that signature.
Stacey Coley- After being considered a near FSU lock for weeks he appears at his NSD ceremony crying. Instantly everyone suspects his high school coach pushed him to Miami when he announces he is attending there. A month later the high school coach who had been very successful as a coach for years is fired. Rumors abound he was fired over the Stacey Coley situation.
fsufsu said... I've got about 10 great stories on Lane but all you need to know is he will never be a loser, that's for sure.
So what about all the Miami kids who handled their recruiting well ?
Find me some.
Miami kids grow up being spoiled. They are treated like superstars from their freshman year and courted by tons of boosters/agents. That along with all the kids with daddy issues from that area creates dysfunctional athletes. Tampa, Jacksonville, etc create athletes that have better heads on their shoulders. Of course you will find similar Miami-esque pockets like Immokalee but nothing compares as a whole area.
The 247Sports rankings are determined by our recruiting analysts after countless hours of personal observations, film evaluation and input from our network of scouts. Players are ranked by position, grouped qualitatively with a star ranking and given a numerical ranking based on their future potential.
Jamal Carter, Artie Burns and a host of others, I just don't care to name them all
Lots of kids come from south florida pal, you named 4 out of 100's
And your take on the Stacy Coley situation is way off
Three W's In My Life: Ward, Weinke, and Winston
He did an interview on wqam about why he chose Miami. (great listen if anyone is bored) He said telling Dawsey he was coming to Miami was the hardest thing he's ever done. It ended up being your basic want to stay home situation. He loved LD but he loved Miami (city) more.
Golden is better then Jimbo... I feared it was true. He is going to hoist a crystal ball there - fsufsu
Yeah I know all about it, its obvious Nole of 16 is young and just doesn't get it
He is begging for info on the Matt Thomas situation over on Warchant when its obvious what is going on there
Matt's family isn't talking to Nole sites and its clear he isn't coming to FSU, but he just can't read between the lines is all
Not sure if serious, you are the one who said MT6 was punking USC and made a thread on warchant info.
Yeah that was last week pal, things change and its obvious what is going on now
Warchant doesn't have any real sources brother, I just felt like causing a stir on here for fun and that is exactly what happened
And your Coley post was so far from reality its mind blowing
He picks 4 players out that's a great sample size brah, wtf is with your pic?
In all fairness to OP it is a circus down there when it comes to recruiting. The kids are put on a pedestal early in the process. Most handle it well, some don't. I would put Coley in the most group. He kept it close and made the choice he wanted. Nothing wrong with that.
This being said, it is still well worth the drama to recruit down there. Don't whine about the process. Just get down there every year, play the game, and hope you make it out with some good talent.
No, no, no......
2 out of 4 isn't too shabby

Strong cover up
Lulz @ Kirkland. Are your academic standards actually that bad to allow him in without going prep first?
Exactly... Same thing happened with Miami/Bostwick and it doesn't bother me one bit... I'll follow his collegiate career and wish him all the best. Classy kid.. We just got beat.
We're not a private school... not really sure of the differences between the ACC and SEC academic requirements. But thanks for the reply.
So does this mean youre punking out on your perma ban bet Dukeb took you up on?

I'll believe it when I see it. Kid had terrible grades.
I think the SEC raised it from a 2.0 GPA to a 2.5 recently
are you high ?
