Clippers' best season ever - Vinny Del Negro fired.
George Karl wins Coach of the Year - fired.
Grizzlies' best season ever - Lionel Hollins fired.
JESUCRISTO, what do you have to do to keep your job in the NBA? Disappointed Grizzlies fan here. We're almost surely going to regress next season without Hollins.
PS: Mike D'Antoni - still employed.

There's a reason why the Clips are the Clips, the Nuggets are the Nuggets and the Grizz are the Grizz.
All teams stuck behind the elite. All of those coaches are great, but they have had opportunities to win a title and haven't done it.
As a Grizz fan I can tell you exactly why we let Hollins go. When discussion started over a new contract to keep him here he was requesting more control of the team and organization among other things and the new ownership wasn't gonna have any of that. The guy also refuses to play young guys despite there potential. Always wants to play veterans more regardless of production and other things.
This move could pay off much better for us in the future. Assistant coach Dave Jorgoer will probably take over and the potential is there for this move to turn out huge for us.
"Give him six" "We don't give a damn about the whole state of Alabama" "Grit N Grind"
A lot more to it than wins and losses.
In fact a coaches record is probably only half of it.
Vinny is one of the worst coaches in the NBA
Karl is a great regular season coach that can't do anything once his teams get to the playoffs
Randolph and Allen wanted Hollins out.
NBA is the one league where star players essentially decide who is the coach (at least in crappy organizations).
^^^Even more of why the league is an absurd joke. They let the inmates run the prison.
More Ed Davis and Tony 'Murder She' Wroten, couldn't be happier

George Karl was also let go for this reason. But George Karl is a much better and more experienced coach than Lionel Hollins. Vinny Del Negro just flat out sucks. Their offense, with all those weapons, was pathetic. Everything they got was based off of Chris Paul creating something out of nothing
That about sums it up
This is very true. One of the reasons the team wanted to part ways with Lionell. Wroten should have been playing a lot more minutes IMO. Ed Davis as well to a slighty lesser extent.
Only thing I could see that makes sense about George Karl being let go was the team was tired of blowing it in the playoffs. Guy deserved another year.
Vinny flat out sucked. Got what he deserved.
I don't think it was related to performance. It couldn't have been. I know they got bounced in the first round but that team overachieved all year. From everything I saw it was all because he wanted more front office control moving forward.
Mo Cheeks has a head coaching job and George Karl doesn't.
