I'll start it of with this. Do the Blazers really want to do this again?
The Portland Trail Blazers have offered restricted free agent center Roy Hibbert a four-year, $58 million contract, sources confirmed to ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard.
Hey Trojans, LSU's 74 are better than your 75.
At least Hibbert has proven he can play.. I like Hibbert a lot, but I don't know if I'd give him a max contract.
Also, come on home D-Will.
Huddles are for rookies.
Looks like the pacers are going to go cheap and not match
mkillian247 on twitter..... I say a lot of stuff you wont care about.
Hibbert is just so stiff and lacking in athletic ability and you can't bank on someone that big staying healthy. $14.5 million a year is ridiculous somewhere along the lines of $9 million to $10.5 million a year is far more reasonable.
At least he's not getting a Joe Johnson contract. A waste of money.
Joe Johnson might be getting traded to Brooklyn, another great piece to help Dwight get a ring.
blahaha. Watching DH sometimes is so painful. Dude should be putting up shaq numbers.
Hibbert is very good. Idk if he is max contract worthy, but a good big man is a huge asset. They will have a really good front court with Hibbert and Aldridge.
Cant believe the Raptors are offering Nash 3 years 36 million. That is outrageous. He would be 41 at the end of that contract and making 12 million a year.
They will front stack it and make huge money in jersey sales and other various marketing campaigns, also Nash was brilliant last season it's not like he can't play anymore.
Go and listen to Bill Simmons last podcast they talk about Nash to the Raptors at length.
A max contract with a different team isn't as big as a max contract with the team you're already with. People of Hibbert's size and skill are an extremely rare commodity. He is worth it.
In memory of Tusks.
The Pacers are seemingly going to match the Blazers offer to Hibbert. While he was great in the playoffs I don't get giving $14.5 million to a guy who averaged 12.8/8.8/2.0 last year and was 11th amongst centers in PER. His plodding defence means he is likely to get beaten soundly on the block by any centers with some fleet footed post moves, granted there aren't many of those.
I listened to that and it made a lot of sense. If they can swing Pau Gasol for something like Bargnani and Derozan and they got a pretty nice team.
I'm glad to see OJ Mayo leaving Memphis - and I'm a Grizz fan.
They have to do it. Portland is never going to attract a superstar player that's actually worth a max contract. The next best thing to do is to throw it at one of the 5 best centers in league. They know that most of the small market teams are to cheap to get in the race and that the big market teams are only going to give max contracts to big fish.
Now, they need to get him and pray that a top center is still necessary to win. This past season probably makes that front office a little uneasy, since Miami didn't have a lot of size.
Hibbert is not a top 5 center in the league, anyway The Blazers play considerably better when Lamarcus Aldridge is playing center.
This point is kind of moot anyway seeing as the Pacers will match, he is not going anywhere.

That would be shocking but seems more likely that it's a ploy to make sure New Orleans would match, which they were going to do anyway.
I don't know what sounds good about The Suns recruiting pitch of "oh look our best player is leaving and he is a PG who would have gotten you lot's of open looks, now come and play with Marcin Gortat and a bunch of scrubs, that's a sure fire bet to make multiple deep playoff runs".
Agree but with this move by the Suns, that eliminates the Pacers, unless they can get the Hornets to do a sign and trade which I find very unlikely. Living here in Indy, I know the fans want him bad!!
