How is cutting players cheating?
UGA is just butthurt
What was the NCAA going to do to auburn? Make y'all vacate wins when you didn't win.
Glad au got a crystal, it would be cruel to make aub fans have to deal with bama winning about 6 during Saban's reign. Let aub have a piece of cake.
You would have to have morals to understand.
Steve Spurrier is a God, and Mark Richt worships him
The OP should start charging rent, because the REC is livin' in his head for free at the moment.
Why have a roster full of injured/crappy players when someone better is out there to take their spot?
UGA might win a big game if they would get rid of crappy players like TJ Stripling who probably hasn't even totaled 10 tackles his whole career
Oh well...have fun with your "morals".
It is hard for some to understand that scholarships are 1 year at a time.
The OP is a Maryland Dawg. He is overrun with crabs and barks for fun. Understanding is never going to be a strength.
Scholarships in the Big Ten are 4 years now.
If that is how your coach wants to run his program then oh well.
Nothing is guaranteed. You have to earn it yearly.
It's the whole conference for one. And if the player has commited his future to you, then you should commit to them. Your going to kick a player out after one year because the new incoming recruit is better? What about that player's education?
If you don't produce, you get fired. Morals have nothing to do with it. That is such an overblown accusation anyway. It's just like the over signing thing. Desperate minds in need of justification IMO.
Quit giving them ideas. It has been too much fun watching the B1G become obsolete all on their own.
Do you keep your job if you stop producing or stop coming to work?
The BIG realizes there is more to a kid's future then football. If an SEC player fails to make the NFL then he will work at Taco Bell his whole life. If a Big Ten player fails to make the NFL he will work for IBM, Microsoft etc......
4 year scholarships make the coaching staff accountable when recruiting.
College isn't a charity. They got a free education because of their ability to play football. Take that away, and they are just like everyone else. So, if you are saying that college should be free for everyone, then I guess that would be cool, but it's still a fantasy. This is the real world, and if you can't produce, you don't get paid.
This is amateur athletics. They are student athletes. They are going to school to get jobs.
Okay. I want you to sign a 4 year contract at work and then tell your boss you aren't going to be productive.
Do you get to keep an academic scholarship if you don't do what is required?
The player's and families know before signing that scholarships are a yearly contract. They get renewed every year. At the end of every season, before Spring practice, Saban sits down with each player and lets them know how they are progressing, what they need to do to move up, or if they would be better off transferring.
You are acting like these kids end up just going to the streets when they leave Bama...they don't. They get full-rides at other schools where they have a better chance of playing. You have to be ELITE to play at Bama..and if you are not, then Saban recommends you play elsewhere. It really isn't that hard to understand...look at the results. Every player that has transferred out has nothing but good things to say about Saban.
Spurrier does it the same way.
They are 1 year renewables
Well, that's great. That's an utter falsity, but if that is the way you want your program to approach football then don't complain when you don't win anything ever again. I love charities, but they don't make any money so...
A bunch of ignorant rednecks ITT...there is this great big world outside of football(hard for you to understand I know). You can justify your coaches cutting players how you please , but it doesnt make it right
