Me so hawny, me love you long time is pretty good too
Its really not, that might be the most over-rated part of an incredibly over-rated movie
fsufsu said... I've got about 10 great stories on Lane but all you need to know is he will never be a loser, that's for sure.
LOL at him knowing about Tet. He knew what the CIA, NSA, and Phoenix didn't. Sounds legit
It's one of Kubrick's worst films. While his worst is still a helluva lot better than most, it is very overrated.
"Anyone who runs in a VC. Anyone who doesn't run, is a well disciplined VC."
There is no doubt about it
It has some funny one liners but they are few and far between and overall its just a horrible war movie with a bunch of horrible actors
I never thought it was a great movie, it made me laugh out loud a few times when I was a little kid.... but now I couldn't even watch it again, be a total waste of 2 hours
Greatest war movie of all time has to be Pauly Shore and Andy Dick in In The Army Now.

"You're Jolly Green Giants walking the Earth. These are great days we are living gentlemen". THAT is a great quote
Not the best by a long shot. The boot camp portion of the movie is outstanding though.
Some of the best are:
The Battle of the Algiers (my pick for the best, in my top 5 all time)
The Bridge on the River Kwai
Army of Shadows
Paths of Glory
I wasn't going old school but yes, all of those are much better movies too
Weedline is just a total moron is what this thread boils down to
Way too many Kingbee's not getting shot down IMO. If you have read any book on Vietnam ever, every Kingbee in the sky was shot down.
FMJ isn't a bad movie though. I'd give it a 3.5/5. I also wouldn't be listing The Last Samurai on any great war movies list like you did. It's an good movie at best.
Forgot about strangelove. I guess I don't consider it a war movie. My favorite movie
What is happiness? The feeling that power is growing, that resistance is overcome.--Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche
I don't know if I'd call Dr. Strangelove a war movie. I've always seen it as a political satire, but nonetheless it is a great movie and my favorite movie ever.
I like it better than FMJ
FMJ is a good movie at best to me
I found The Last Samurai to be interesting and one of Tom Cruise's best
I also said nothing about that list being great movies only, it was a list of movies I think are better than FMJ and nothing more than that
Its a list based on my opinions

"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room!"
I consider it a war comedy/ satire and the best one ever made.
A great quote right there. Peter Sellers' performance is one of the best in film history in Dr. Strangelove.
Not for me. I've liked Tom Cruise better in many other movies. The Last Samurai tried too hard to get Dances with Wolves to have a baby with Samurai movie.
It was a good movie, but this put an image to mind that was hilarious.
Again, Im not saying it was a great film
But it was better than FMJ
Totally agree with this.
The boot camp section is pure gold though.
