How much does a decent-good MB go for these days and where do you get them? I had a Mongoose when I was in 4th grade and I treated that thing like my Ferrari. But after a Mongoose, I don't even know another good brand. Hell, Mongoose might even be a bad bike now.

There are a ton of good mountain bike companies (Specialized, Trek, Santa Cruz, etc.). You can get a pretty nice full suspension bike between $2500 and $4000. If you start getting into carbon frames you can get into the $7500 to $10,000 territory. If you go with a hardtail you can get a pretty good one for $1200 to $1500.
Thanks for the info. Looks like mine will be one of the lower end thousand dollar ones.
You can find a good hard tail for cheaper than that if you keep your eyes open for good deals. Unless you plan on doing a lot of big drops there is really no need to go full suspension.
I had a friend that owned a bike shop so I got a pretty good deal on a full suspension.

This is a pretty nice hardtail. I had one of these before I got a full suspension bike.
Mamba - Trek Bicycle
Photos, features, details, fit & sizing, reviews and support for Mamba. Trek 29er Sport Hardtail mountain bikes are the most fun, most confidence-inspiring big wheelers around. No surprise, since Trek has more 29er experience than any other company.
I have been thinking of upgrading to a 29er. I still have a 26er.
Highly recommend it.
That is what I have heard. I have had my bike for close to 8 years. 29ers didn't even exist when I bought my bike as far as I know.
I have a 26er and used a buddies full 29er doing some down hill mountain picking and the experience is unreal. I love being lazy and doing the downhill courses in Vail and taking the Gondola back up.
That would be nice.
I have to get all the riding I can in right now because once it hits 110 I don't really feel like hitting the trails.
