fsufsu said... I've got about 10 great stories on Lane but all you need to know is he will never be a loser, that's for sure.
Have they specified a theatre? American and/or British pilots in Europe (Battle of Britain, Market Garden, et al)? American pilots in the Pacific (Coral Sea, et al)?
Yep. It's become my favorite show on TV. I doubt that changes much in the next few years. I actually read the books because of the show and getting me to read fantasy is not an easy thing to do. It just doesn't happen.
I remember reading about this a while back and for some reason pacific air battles came into my mind when thinking about your question. Dunno if true though.
Three W's In My Life: Ward, Weinke, and Winston
"While "Band of Brothers" covered the war on land and "The Pacific" the sea, the untitled new project will look at the officers and enlisted men who served in the Eighth Air Force against Germany. Based in England, the men of the "Mighty Eighth" faced harsh physical, psychological and moral challenges.
The story will be based in part on Donald L. Miller's "Masters of the Air: America's Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany," though other books may provide source material as well, HBO said."
I'm a little worried about action. As scary and dangerous as being a bombardier in WW2 was, it's not exactly an immensely exciting thing. Your kind of there flying this huge plane one second and your shot down the next. But I'm sure with Hanks and Spielberg on board this thing is going to be great.
While the focus will be on the Mighty Eighth, I bet they'll have some side characters in other detachments in the USAF and RAF that fly fighter planes instead of bombers.
It's gonna be sweet
