Ohio State is going to win a national championship under Urban Meyer. That may not be an extreme statement but with the way he is recruiting and with the state of the Big Ten relative to the SEC, that conference is about to get dominated.
Right now the only Big Ten team that can keep up with Ohio State on the recruiting trail is Michigan. The Buckeyes are 2, Michigan is 8. The next Big Ten team in the national rankings is Penn State all the way back at 28.
I'm having a hard time seeing how Ohio State doesn't go undefeated this year. I don't think they beat whoever the SEC lines up in the national championship game against them this year but if they keep on recruiting at the level that they are and if they keep on running unopposed in the Big Ten, you have to think that's a pretty good recipe for national championships.
I love Northwestern and love what they're doing with that program. Michigan as I mentioned is still recruiting well enough to mount a challenge to Ohio State. With another step in the right direction under Bill O'Brien, I may be a believer that Penn State is ready to be a powerhouse again but I'm not there yet.
So that brings me to this, let's remove this year from the equation and the Alabama juggernaut. Starting in 2014, is there a team in the SEC that you would take at a Vegas sports book to win more national championships than Ohio State over the following five year span?
I'd take the SEC field in a heart beat but I think Ohio State is lined up - considering how well they're recruiting - to make a serious run at some titles.

And an upvote for you, my good sir.
Time and change will surely (truly) show
How firm thy friendship ... OHIO!
lol. Yeah, there are a few
Iron sharpens iron. Butter sharpens nothing. They'll get rolled every time they play an SEC team.
If OSU made the NC game the next 5 years and they played the SEC champion everytime; I would take the SEC champion b/c they are playing great competition every week unlike OSU.
In the words of the late great Colonel Sanders "I'm too drunk to taste this chicken!"
FSU recruits better talent than OSU and they haven't won a NC title since 99, just b/c a team get a top recruiting class it doesn't mean they will win the NC.
So does USCw usually. Ohio State have never beaten an SEC team in a bowl game. Never. To me, that makes it kinda hard to predict multiple NC's over the next 5 years.
FSU hasn't won shit since '99 because they're garbage
Well that's what's great about this urban meyer guy. kind of a proven winner
Dude you can't be serious..
Texas is always top 5 in recruiting as well, OSU has no chance against SEC teams and i hate the SEC.

OSU beat Arkansas in the 2011 Sugar Bowl, unless you wanna be a homo and say it doesn't count because it was vacated
You cheated and it was stripped away from you, of course it doesn't count. If your coach had done the right thing and not played a player who was obviously getting kick backs, you would have lost.
Also Arky wasn't the SEC champion that year..
Ohio State is definintely looking pretty right now, absolutely.
And it would be foolish to think that Urban had learned nothing form his lack of discipline while he was at UF. So that shouldn't totally cripple him like it did his last year (Despite the fact he lost a lot of good players, off the field issues were not good at all)
With that said, I just don't know if they will have the firepower to beat an powerhouse like UA or LSU (2011 version type LSU that is)
University of Alabama: The high mark of college football since 1892
The kids were cleared by the NCAA to play the game, should have never been vacated, but carry on scrub
Would take Ole Miss over Ohio
Steve Spurrier is a God, and Mark Richt worships him
And you'd be seen as dumber than you already are
Your coach new what was going on. Just like he knew what was going on with Maurice Clarett. How you didn't get the death penalty for all that cover up is beyond me.
There's LOTS of things beyond you, ie intelligence, so you should sit the next couple of plays out
I wouldn't have a retort either. I mean, what can you say?

But they'll be in the game which is half the battle. They're getting good enough players that they should be able to compete athletically.
Like I said, I'd take the SEC (and if Alabama had a QB I had confidence with in the pipeline, they'd remain a good pick) but if Ohio State is going to be there more times than not, it's hard to pick against them.
Nah, was just asked a similar question on the radio recently and it made me think.
Going to be interesting to see how the next few years play out. Like I said, I'm not including this year in the equation. Don't see OSU matching up with anyone that comes out of SEC this year. But they're stockpiling some talent and it seems like they're gonna walk into some undefeated regular seasons in the near future.
With the new playoff system starting next year, they might just have to beat two SEC teams to win it all. I don't see any way that's possible. I surely don't see it where they win more than one.
