Congrats to ejb as well for dancing all 46 hours (at least I hope, he sounded like he was hallucinating at some point this morning)!
doing a good thing doesnt make up for a bad thing...
but great job raising all that money thon is an awesome event.
Pic Sigs are for losers.
Completely unrelated. WTF does THON have to do with Sandusky?
Lets not start that in this thread. Keep it positive and about THON
I'm not the one who brought it up..... so don't get pissy with me.
Like I said Thon is probably the most amazing event any college throws for fundraising and I've always admired the work it takes and the money it raises for a great cause.
THON is what PSU is about (the real culture), not Sandusky.... unless you think one man is more significant than the 1000's that put on this event yearly. If that is the case, you are stupid (there really isn't a better word for it). Emmert is a tool and so are you with your typical PSU hatred.
You are the one who turned it into a psu fans are victims woe is me thread by your lame post about culture by emmert. Thon is great and i'm glad all the info gets posted so maybe other campuses could do similar things.
I don't hate all PSU just the fans like you and those on your scout board who care more about football than everything else. Maybe that is the culture people are talking about not a rape culture but one where football is more important than everything else and every time you make a woe is us post you just really annoy the shit out of everyone. -- end rant
again great job on thon as usual.
I care more about football? The thing that pissed me off with the NCAA more than anything was their claim that there was a "culture" issue. That is a huge insult on the 600k alumni, nearly 100k students and 40k staff/faculty that had nothing to do with it. The fact that you are sitting here and claiming that I care more about football in a THON thread is laughable.

Do you post this stuff because you're trying to repair penn states image or something?
We raise a lot of money too, but don't feel the need to post about it.
It's for kids with cancer. It's the largest effort of it's kind in the world. If you don't like it (for whatever bizzare reason that would be), don't post in here. However, if you don't think this is a major point of pride, and is instead some kind of "ploy" to repair PSU's image, you are wrong. This had been going on since the 70's and we post about it every year.
Will be posting pix shortly.
“If you remember me, then I don't care if everyone else forgets.” ― Haruki Murakami
I get the feeling THON is less about raising money and more about "Hey, everyone, look at us! We're raising money!"
Schools across the country raise millions of dollars a year for various charities, THON included, the end result is great. But really only one school feels the need to constantly remind others and brag about it.
but in all seriousness, the end justifies the means here. So if you gotta get all braggy and holier than thou about it at least its for a good cause. The event itself is great.
Yeah, that's us. We raise more money than anyone else. We are awesome.
Props to PSU! That's a lot of money for a very good cause.
As long as none of that money is going towards lawyer fees and settlements then good job.
Why would it? Insurance is going to cover these things.
Hmm. No mention of insurance here.
Penn State 's bill for legal fees, consultants and other costs associated with the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal stands at more than $27 million, including $13 million for the internal investigation by former FBI Director Louis Freeh.
$27 million dollars respresents 0.628% of PSU's annual operating budget. Considering that this is over two fiscal years, it is a drop in the bucket.
THON is something to brag about. We aren't bringing up some random charity even that we have, THON is a huge deal, for a great cause and the most the successful of its kind by a large margin.
No. It's called changing the narrative. It is necessary since the average sports fan, with their IQ of 80, believes that anyone associated with Penn State is a child rapist.
As long as public perception is so skewed re: Penn State, expect Penn Staters to argue otherwise.
