It kind of does at Alabama, though, because teams like A&M are usually going to be seeing #s 4 and 5 in the third quarter.
Bama basically abandoned the run game halfway through the 3rd
Week two. Bye week. Tyren Jones will have a nice day.
Meh, Marshall had like 7 yards on 3 carries against Bama.
Ok and Yeldon had only 25 yds, or something like that, on 10 carries vs aTm.
What's your point?
2.5 ypc>2.33 ypc?
So are we saying it's BCS title or bust? Expectations are through the roo
I could say I'd settle for the SEC, but really, we all know we are going to win the BCS if we win the SEC, so yes. I think so.
Gurley is a beast. Marshall is vastly overrated.
As a backup?
Yeah. He seems like more of a right place, right time kind of player. Not a great player in his own right. Kind of like Mike Dyer IMO. Except without the thuggin'.
Solid number 2 at Georgia. Starter at Florida
TJ Yeldon was our backup. Perspective might be a little skewed.
Yeldon isn't a backup this yr.
Marshall will be. As a backup, I don't think he's overrated at all, for this upcoming season.
Right, but what we've seen is both as backups.
And to think our 9th stringer is a former 5 star moving back to rb after experimenting at corner just for fun
Crazy depth, bra. I can remember thinking it was a big deal that USC had 38 4-star running backs back in the day. Long since forgotten IMO.
He's a solid backup. But he isn't an NFL back to me. That's why I say he's overrated, as he gets hype and was a 5 star.
To me, I don't look at it as starter vs backup. Most guys split time these days so I compare them all. What would Marshall do with 20 carries against a quality defense? Not much unless he was running in open space. Compare that to our backups the past few years in Ingram, Richardson, Lacy, Yeldon or Ronnie Brown at Auburn. Those are guys who can step in for the starter and have limited, if any, drop off.
Alabama RB's >>>>>Minnesota Vikings with depth included
Lacy had, at the most, probably 30 more carries than Yeldon.
Gurley had over 100 more than Marshall.
I hope you can see the difference.
So who are the NFL backs on Bama's roster, outside of Yeldon?
That doesn't really change anything, though. You're now making the case that he's a serviceable backup, not that their backfield is equal to or better than Alabama's.
A&M when Johnny graduates will be like The Middle East when the oil runs out.
