I am on my phone, at work, so my responses are brief, and attention span short.
My grandfather wasn't an overnight success, it took him 30+ years to get at the level he is at today. Highs and lows along the way, with times where he didn't get paid for weeks so that his employees did. There was a time where he thought he would have to fold up shop. The majority of people would have quit way before my grandfather ever thought of doinf such a thing.
As for the willing to work, I don't agree with your assessment. Too many people are willing to just do enough to get the minimum, for them. The minimun for some is doing nothing, others McDonald's, others a shop, others a union job, others an education that opens the door for more. Hell, some that that education and use it to do the minimim in their chosen profession.
I can't believe that people don't realize how many people are content with living off the government. I know too many people that are like that. Either straight out do nothing or work as little as possible so they can still receive their money for doing nothing.
I know people that have quit their job once they found out everything they could get off the gov't.. Needless to say I do not associate myself with people like that.. Not that I think I'm better than they are but they are part of the reason the country is in the shape its in.
Its amazing how many people have no personal pride.
Many illegals have no desire to become citizens. They want to work, make money for their families and return home. The US takes in approx 1 million immigrants every year. Those that want to stay could get in line like everyone else. We do need a guest worker program for the illegals though.
Scored 4 touchdowns...in a single game. Polk High!
First time ever I have agreed with a UMer.
Its quite pathetic, really. The election was decided on such petty, menial garbage. Our society as a entirety is completely fucked, and at the same time society is to blame.
Why ? Because they have one for us ?
We need better border protection, proud of AZ for keeping sheriff Joe in office.
The Gov't is to blame partially. They make it way to easy: like unemployment you are supposed to apply for 2 jobs a week or whatever the requirement is. All you have to do is apply to places you are not qualified for and you will never get a job. Nobody ever checks up on that.
The Gov't just hands out money left and right to people and have no idea where the money ends up. Pathetic really pisses me off thinking about it.
They make it easy because it wins them elections. Hence society is to blame.
People are voting because they get free shit, because of candidates skin color, etc.
WELL over 90% of black voters in OH voted for Obummer. Disgraceful IYAM.
Before Obummer, how often did Dems win Cincy?
Overnight success was the wrong phrase. What I meant was that people can become successful in their lifetime, but usually their success is measured by the opportunity they provided for future generations.
Same here. It is sickening. I hammer home to my kids about working and being proud of what you have earned. Nothing is free, someone is paying for it somewhere.
Eh if things keep trending the direction they are, all of us will be paying for it a lot more severely than wasted tax dollars.

Repubs need to make a stance on social issues that they will no longer push any religious agenda on any of it. We don't want.Govt telling us how.to.do.anything except.for every.social.issue ? Doesn't make sense.
Chris Christie is the first true fiscal.conservative in awhile IMO
Steve Spurrier is a God, and Mark Richt worships him
Because are entitlement society will not perform many of the jobs the illegals do. As long as there are jobs and a source of income with little to no punishment, they are going to come. We might as well account for them and have them here working legally rather than turning a blind eye.
For sure. The opportunity is still there for anyone willing to work for it.
And it isn't just work for it. I worked with plenty of guys that busted their balls, only to piss away their earnings in a weekend at the bar in Georgia while their wife struggles to pay the bills back home in Michigan. Those guys disgusted me.
Others worked hard all day, went back to the motel and saved their money so that they had more out of life than a memory and an itching dick from a night at bar.
That is an issue as well.
Things like abortion deciding this election is catastrophic. There are MUCH worse things that will happen now than not being able to abort your child.
I fear that. I am holding out that we will still be able to enjoy the fruits of our labors instead of working for others to enjoy them.
It's really easy to say that social issues don't matter when those social issues don't affect you.
If wealth disparity keeps growing at the pace it has the last 30 years we won't have a democracy for you to bitch about anyway.
I mean the day after our presidential election the stock market has dropped 300 points.

"In America, if you are willing to work, then the opportunity for more is there for you."
Wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Again, in your limited personal experience, this may be true. However, your experience is decidedly atypical. U.S. poverty rates dictate that large, large numbers of the children in this country are already starting at a massive disadvantage because of their socioeconomic status. The sheer cost of the necessary items for upward mobility further inhibit class movement.
92% of American men who have been in the bottom quintile don't make it to the top quintile of income. In contrast, over 60% of Americans born in the top quintile of income remain in the top two quintiles. It's a whole hell of a lot easier to stay in the middle or upper classes than it is to get there in the first place. This isn't even including poor immigrant families with language and cultural barriers to advancement.
Americans enjoy less economic mobility than their peers in Canada and much of Western Europe in part because of the depth of poverty, family background and the gaps between the rich and the rest.
The problem with the republicans is not that 90% of blacks voted for obama. Your problem is that 90% of your voters are white. Play the race card all you want, but those same black people will likely vote for the next dem candidate regardless of race.
It's awfully hypocritical to be offended by a large percentage of blacks voting so one sided but completely ignore that repub party is only white people.

I would LOVE for you to give hard evidence as to how that influx of Hispanics will cause welfare and the costs of Obamacare to go "through the roof." Seriously. If you're going to make assertions like that, you should be able to back it up.
As a matter of fact, you say "do the math." Why don't you do it for me? Use this math to prove your point.
Holy crap, you really think people it is that difficult for people work their way up. As I have stated many times, it isn't just about work, it is personal choices along the way. Ones that may drag someone down.
People in poverty can work themself out of poverty. Here is something we agree on, it is hard to work yourself out of the situation. Shocking, I know. It takes hard work, effort, perseverance... To get yourself out of that situation, but it can be done.
You give those don't work to much credit, and don't give enough credit to those that work themself up the food chain.
Obviously, the life you are living is governed by the fear you have of the wealthy few. If you were to ever own your own business, you would know that the success of your business is determined by the strength of your staff. The business owners that do not realize this fundamental plicy fail.
I have to quote this again. I am amazed that something thinks this is wrong.
