My dad (who is a huge UGA booster) said that Mark Richt and several other coaches have called Jimbo to tell him not to release Thomas. All of them are too scared of players squeezing their way out of LOI. Mark Richt is supposedly upset Georgia has been used as leverage throughout this affair in the media.
Its certainly part of the ordeal, recruiting is already crazy enough on these coaches
Letting Matt Thomas do what he wants in this situation will open a can of worms no doubt
But I still think Jimbo will let him walk
He will try and convince him that staying at FSU won't be the worst thing and could greatly benefit the kid, and if Matt Thomas is still scared of FSU's depth at LB then Jimbo will let him go
Either way Matt picking FSU, and pulling this shows he isn't the smartest kid in the world and neither are his parents
But this is the norm in terms of kids from Miami, the majority of them are retards spawned by even bigger retards that are coached by the biggest retards
You play with fire recruiting that area if you aren't the Hurricanes
Zay Rhodes wanted out of FSU almost right away too, then Jimbo talked to him and convinced him not to jump.... now he is getting first round money at a position he didn't want to play

fsufsu said... I've got about 10 great stories on Lane but all you need to know is he will never be a loser, that's for sure.
Don't believe it for a second.
If it was a UGA commit trying to get out of a LOI, Richt would first try to get him to stay, but ultimately would release the kid (to schools outside SEC/schedule)

Of course, but what he is saying is that most coaches would want Jimbo to not release him because it makes it so kids will start doing it more and more
And makes it so that recruiting doesn't stop after NSD, you will soon have to check on kids after they sign to make sure they are still happy and so on
Which is something almost no coach wants, especially today with all the limits on coaches in terms of contact and social media getting into kids ears 24/7 365
Recruiting is already hectic enough
I really hope Jimbo doesn't release him for this reason. These kids do not have to sign their LOI on NSD. If they do and they want out they should have to go by the same rules as any other transfer.

I totally agree, Matthew Thomas was a moron for signing
I read him say that " ESPN put pressure on me as well to make a decision "
Jesus christ kid, man the fuk up... I mean, really
If you didn't want to decide then don't decide, kids go past NSD every single year.... grow a pair and make your decision when you are ready, who gives a shit about ESPN
Just shows how terrible his parental advice was and how slow his mind works
I think thats a message board fodder that simply won't be reality.
Thomas is not the first NCAA athlete to ask out of his LOI.
There are rules in place to govern this because its happened before.
And Richt would take Thomas in an instant if he becomes available.
I do not think that letting Thomas out of his LOI is that big of a deal. Kids have been released before and I'm sure it will happen again. What I do think is a big deal is how the media is being used to try and force the issue. I do not know if it is a good idea to let kids know that if they want out of their LOIs all they have to do is take it to the media. I think that Thomas and FSU would have been better served if this all was resolved privately.
The very fact that you can ask out of a LOI and that there are rules governing it shows its NOT a 100% binding contract.
Akin to a buyout in a coaching contract, there is an option out. Thomas is pursuing that option.
Despite Nova's dumb ass saying otherwise we've been assured he won't be released. 118 coaches will hate Jimbo if he releases him, Kiffin and Jimbo being the others.
The public part of it comes where he is from
The moment it got around town, well Miami fans ran with it because of how happy it clearly made them
It was no shock that the first to run the rumors was the Miami herald
I also have no doubts that FSU's depth was pressed on him from the moment he picked FSU, there are hundreds if not thousands that couldn't stand the thought of him at FSU down there
Its one thing for Miami fans to see him not at Miami, but seeing him at FSU ? that is simply too much to handle for many of them
You were assured it was only rumor too and fell for it, you were assured FSU led the entire time and fell for it
How many times are you gonna be assured by FSU mods that don't know shit ? seriously, when will you learn that Jimbo doesn't tell them a damn thing ? when will you realize that Jimbo hates the media and shuts them out as much as possible
You, nor anybody at Noles247 have any idea what Jimbo will do
I don't know if this will become more common or not but that is what worries me.
Recruiting is already a circus. This is just one more thing to.make it crazy.
I was assured by you it was only a rumor.
i used to love following recruiting. now when fsu gets a committ, im like big deal. kids make a joke out the process. i actually thought thomas handled the process well, but he hasnt handled this well at all.
agreed.. some may see this as just one player, but if he gets his way you can bet more and more kids will start doing the same thing. we have seen it with recruiting and how kids have copied their teammates or other nation recruits. I hope jimbo doesn't release him.
Johnny Dwight commits to Bama on 6/4/13 ranked the 44th DT in the nation by 247sports and 87 rating a 3 star. Now see the Bama bump.
I think if he does let him out of his LOI, it will be after fall camp starts.
Its how you have to be today, I have been this way for a few years now
Its why the USC fans are cracking me up so much over this Matt Thomas issue
I know that FSU will get good kids, and I trust Jimbo and his staffs eye for talent, knowing this much... you just have to wait for the kids to start going through the " process " and see who folds and who doesn't, the ones that don't are gonna be solid players and some will be great
I look at this years roster and Im pumped up for the first time in years, and people get up and arms about a LB who might have been a star on special teams.... its like, give a break... who cares, FSU is set to have its best defense, maybe ever and a QB that is beyond talented
I couldn't be happier with where Jimbo has this team and program.... FSU is set to explode, Matt Thomas is barely a speed bump, and most of them you can just drive around or even speed right over
It sounded like one, but one that clearly had legs and those legs hit the press
But its nothing to sweat over
I know college is a big choice, but come on, the dude had two full years to figure out the best school for him. How long does it take to look at a depth chart, defensive scheme, coach's track record for getting kids to the NFL, and educational support system?
Yeah, its really not that hard to do
Some of these kids are just so stupid its scary, and Matt Thomas falls into this category
BTW is notorious for having some of the dumbest kids on earth
Not sure if you ever heard Denver Kirkland talk last year, but my word he was nothing more than a big dumb animal
i cant wait to see winston or coker for that matter this year. i was never a fan of manuel. i get critical of jimbo more than i should bc i dont know if i could his job with my son facing that kind of illness. i dont know how he can concentrate on what he needs to.
Blows my mind, everything I have read leads me to believe his son is dying a slow and painful death
And that clock is ticking very very fast
I wouldn't release him, right now.
I actually might run that sissy sh_t out of him, everyday in practice, and then redshirt him.
After the season, I'd let him transfer.
Which is another reason Jimbo should hire a good OC
Honestly I think he will, he has an ego obviously but he is also a great coach in terms of hiring the right people
Personally, Im not happy with him calling the plays.... but Im also glad he didn't hand the keys to Craig or Coley
I have doubts that if the time comes where he is ready, he will give the keys to somebody that deserve it
Its a very weird situation though, cause I would imagine he would be breathing down whoever it winds up beings neck
The whole situation is something I choose not to think about for now, hopefully Winston is so good that it allows Jimbo to just let him play which is something his offense is designed to let the QB do
