He threw the relay just so he could shit on Phelps.
No way a guy can be that fast and get walked down the way he did.
just watched it. Lochte definitely threw that.
Lochte blew it. smh.
He partied too hard last night.
Way to blow it, Lochte.
Lochte looked like a sloth in that water. "We came up a little short" . I actually screamed at my TV " no YOU came up short".
The guy is a douche.
He isn't great in short distances. Still surprised he got caught though.
Seems like Lochte put his hate for Phelps before his love of a team victory.
lol hes not a sprinter at all, our coach is a moron for having him anchor. Just idiotic especially since he swam the 200 free semis an hour earlier
"I like fixing broken things" - Kevin Plank
Is there really a lot of tension between him and Phelps, or does the media just push that?
I'm not really sure why exactly they decided to have Lochte in this race, much less anchoring it.
The media probably blows it up, but they definitely do not like each other.
He sucked, but people thinking he intentionally blew it to hurt Phelps are way off base. How does this hurt Phelps exactly? He's chasing the total medal record, not the gold medal record (he already holds it).
TURDS ALL UP IN THIS MUG. /// "2010 Auburn Tigers, my favorite team. Unbeaten in all ways." -- Dan Wetzel, April 4, 2013, 6:29 p.m.
He is a little piece of crap. Absolutely.
A grill? Really???
Honestly, Phelps just looks happy to be there.
He didn't intentionally blow it, he just sucked. Then, instead of acknowledging that he pins the loss on the whole team when they had him damn near a full body lead when he entered the water.
Yeah. I think he ranks quite high on the douche-bag factor, so I'm not defending him. Just saying he sucked because he sucked, not on purpose.
I don't know much about swimming so I'm not implying anything, but..
In your guys opinions.. Who's the better all time swimmer? Mark Spitz or Michael Phelps?
Leave it to a gator to blow a huge lead and screw us out of the gold! #U-F-FAIL!
Phelps, IMO. His dominance in the last 2 Olympics was amazing.
To be fair though, I never got to see Spitz compete.
IMO its Phelps. I have seen footage of Spitz, and he was amazing. I have never seen someone dominate the Olympics like Phelps though.
totally agree - both were amazing but Phelps was unreal ; hate that we lost that relay , no way they should have caught him
People who don't know about swimming need to GTFO. He's not a sprinter and never will be. There is no reason he should've been anchoring that relay when he swam a semi an hour before. Look at Cesar Cielo who is a short distance swimmer but wouldn't be able to qualify in any other race. The USA went top heavy in that relay and it showed when the last two French legs ran ours down. Also Agnel went 46.74 which is insanely fast, close to what Lezak did in Beijing. Don't be ignorant if you don't know what you're talking about.
i guess thats the point of everyone's frustration - if he just swam his semi he maybe should not have been racing at all ; why in the world would you have someone in that situation swimming the last leg ? Just disappointed with what happened is all
