God, give me patience today. If given strength I may beat someone to death.
I'm an LSU guy but I think the gap has closed between us and UGA/USCe. If we play to our potential then no contest but as has been seen, we don't always play to our potential. We could beat Bama and still not play for the national title because we've got UF and USCe. Both could beat us if we don't play well. Schedules matter. Bama got the UGA kickout schedule this year. Fortunate for them and what it takes sometimes. Always takes some breaks to win titles.
I think the East is deeper but don't think the 3 powers of the East could go through unscathed having to play Bama and LSU both. LSU and Bama can go through the East unscathed. For that reason the West is best. The strength at the top is the difference. Isn't the point winning titles?
i don't buy the jump ship attitude everyone's taking on lsu after this weekend.
lsu has arguably the best dline in country, and usc has had trouble protecting the qb already and are a bottom half of sec rushing team.
lsu will control the los on both sides, and as long as mett doesn't turn it over, lsu should win fairly convincingly. jmo.

BayTider, props to you. I think Bama is the clear #1 but it's good to see a rational fan that watches the games openminded and not with the colored shades on. Real fans with rationality can spot the weaknesses and flaws. Those are important.
I still have LSU at #2 behind us. I think they'll beat USCe, I'm just not sure they'll win by 2 scores. LSU's offense showed some serious flaws against Auburn. Their OL looked bad, their WR's are average, their QB is a statue who seems easily rattled. I think USCe can keep them from scoring too much. LSU's offense was bad last year but their defense and ST's gave them points and short fields. I'm not sure those units will be able to do that again this year without Mathieu, Claiborne, etc...they were serious playmakers...and I don't think their offense is any better. We'll see.
I don't think it's time to jump ship yet regarding the Tigers, nor am I ready pick my Gamecocks to win against LSU in Baton Rouge. I agree that the LSU d-line will give us fits. However, your o-line won't control our d-line. You'll have some issues with us like everyone else. Our defense is very good. I see a low scoring game that is won in single digits. JMO.
South Carolina Gamecocks. The 2010 National College Baseball Champs.
nope we still didn't try then, lol at yall bragging about FAU. Even FAU's coach said yall were much more aggressive with you playcalling and blitzes.
we gave up more yards than anybody else on our schedule last year to new mexico st. Guess what? We still had a top 5 in the nation defense.
You guys talk about your 2011 defense like it was some historic achievement. Who was the best team UGA beat last year?
Just so we're clear, you know that Alabama is a whole lot better than UGA, right?
Viagra to Shadow
LOL at tbb for for this troll.
new mexico st
I mean yall did own FAU
I say check back in 2 weeks. Right now it would be close.
#4 S. Carolina
#6 Texas A & M
Then everyone else..
The SEC East alone is stronger than the enitre ACC
No way you really believe that lulz
fwiw, i'm a bama fan.
usc dline is good, but lsu oline is good as well. i'll give that a push.
Bama vs UGA – Bama
LSU vs USCe – LSU
MSU vs Florida – Florida
A&M vs Tennessee – Push
Auburn vs Mizzou – Push
Ole Miss vs Vandy – Ole Miss
Arkansas vs Kentucky - Arkansas
West - 4
East - 1
Best case for the East vs West would be 3-4... West is still the best in the SEC!

There's a difference In being subjective and then being completely crazy. There's a whole lot of players on this team that's proven they can get I done over the last 3 years.

But there are also guys who haven't, and we all know it's different being a starter vs role player. I'm not saying that we're garbage but rather not as good as advertised. I can't think of a team that I would rank ahead of us but that doesn't mean anything. Besides, every point that i made was valid IMO.
East is better top to bottom this year.
6. Miss St
10. who cares at this point
Michigan is a top 25 team. We beat everyteam on our schedule last year by double digits. Does that mean all of them were bad? Michigan isn't a top 10 team, but it's a better win than most have at this point. Western Kentucky is likely the Sun Belt Champions this year. FAU is horrible and Arkansas isn't far behind without Tyler Wilson, so I will give you those two.
We have busted some (not many....every team busts assignments in games....even us last year) but not anymore than other teams out there. You can't compare this defense to last years, no team in a long time will look that good.
O-Line hasn't struggled nearly as bad as you state. We are taking more shots downfield than in years pass. When you take shots downfield, it makes your O-line look worse. Even then, it isn't like AJ is taking a beating. I would put our pass protection against any other teams in the country.
The run game has been fine. Yeldon is averageing 6.4 yards per carry. Lacy is averaging 5.2. Drake is averaging 9.7. Fowler was averaging 7.7 pre-injury. What more do you expect exactly?
Speaking of AJ, he has taken a few sacks this year by holding the ball too long, but not many. He has done a pretty good job of throwing the ball away. I would in no way, shape, or form say our QB play has been shaky this year. In fact, I would say AJ has been a top 5 QB this year and I think you would be hard pressed to disagree if you look at everyone.
We average 4.5 penalties a game. That's not ideal but it's not an insane number. We are still one of the most disciplined teams in the country from that standpoint.
The pass rush has been fine. We didn't rush Denard because we didn't want him to scramble, same thing with Mitchell of Arky. And guess what? We are still 23rd in the country with 2.75 sacks per game.
The only thing you can legitimately talk about is the secondary, which hasn't truly been tested. We will get a better glance at that this week against Moncrief and then Missouri and Tennessee.
I mean I don't even post much on our homeboard and am as realistic as it gets, but you're just looking for many things that aren't there in my opinion. This is the best offense we have had in years at Alabama, our field goal kicking is finally strong, punting is improving, kickoffs are much better. Our defense isn't last years but it's still top 5.
I'm not saying there aren't issues, but you are acting like there are glaring ones and there really aren't. What exactly do you want? Heck, we are even scoring TD's in the red zone!
Michigan will not be a top 25 team by the end of the year IMO and I disagree about using a team from the sunbelt as an example of a good team that we beat. They're bad compared to the level of competition that we play in the SEC and shouldn't be used as any kind of measuring stick in regards to how well we did something.
I never said that we busted more than other teams, but rather that we haven't played teams good enough to capitalize on those mistakes. That is relevant to our margin of voctory being as high as it is. We still win all of those game obviously.
The O-line has absolutely sucked in pass pro "at times" and there is no way around it. i mean, we gave up like 6 sacks to WKU. i know we all read the articles about our O-line having to put in extra work after that game.
I don't have any real gripes about the run game and all I said was that it wasn't as good as last year. You don't lose TR and not have some drop off.
AJ has done a decent job but he is inconsistent. Saban himself has criticized AJ for being lazy on some of his throws and needing to be more consistent.
The biggest difference in the penalties this year are that we have committed them at some of the worst possible times killing drives or extending the oppositions. We looked good against WKU and FAU with i think 1 & 3 respectively, but we had 7 against "better", for what thats worth, competition. it also shows how inconsistent that we are at times.
I don't understand what the issue is with what I've said. All I said is the we aren't as dominate as we have been and that I'm not impressed with our performance so far. We have dominated some bad teams but also found was to look bad at times doing it. I pointed out the inconsistancies in this team and said that UA/LSU/UGA/USCe could all beat each other. It's not like I said we suck.
WKU beat an SEC team in Kentucky. I wouldn't say they are your average Sunbelt team.
I wouldn't say that Kentucky even resembles an SEC football team either. Point taken though.
