just saw on ESPN where Hamilton was seen in a bar drinking alcohol. Anyone who knows his story or read his book, which is awesome, knows the problems he has faced in the past with drugs and alcohol. I know drinking a little alcohol seems harmless but it could be bad for him. I hope he stays clean because he is one of my favorite players.
I hope he stays clean, but it is a big deal. Hopefully it's a one time thing, but you just never know with addicts.
Won't stay clean after baseball iyam
Dude has serious demons and when baseball goes his bordom will lead to the bottle among other things
Maybe not but im betting his story has a sad ending
I know a bit about him and he has relapses written all over him
fsufsu said... I've got about 10 great stories on Lane but all you need to know is he will never be a loser, that's for sure.
really hope he can make it
what happened to his friend that stays with him full time? the one the rangers put on payroll?
this guy has had a crazy life and i hope he can pull it out
i do think he will have a hard time after he retires as well, nova
$50 bet with Rebels10 - Best of 3 Egg Bowls
**the $50 goes to others schools athletics dept**
Hope he can keep it together
Happy days are here again!!!!
also, it will really hurt him since hes a freee agent after this year and given that he was already an unknown quantity because of injuries
I know C.J. Wilson helped him a lot, but if that's who you mean then he signed with the Angels so he's gone.
A lot of addicts fall off the wagon pretty frequently. Sucks for him because every time he has a relapse it's going to lead Sportscenter.
exactly , really hurts when your name is all over the news all the time
I am a big fan of Hamilton and his book is great. It sounds like he fell of the wagon but it wasn't as bad as last time. I"m glad he stopped before he went out on a bender
Really like Hamilton.
Imagine what kind of numbers he could have put up with out these addictions.
I like him too
But honestly he wouldn't be much better than he is
Its like saying LT would have been better without cocaine in his life
Addiction to drugs doesn't really take talent from you in your prime, it just makes your career shorter than it could have been cause you aren't taking care of your body
I would argue LT wouldn't have been as great without cocaine cause it was who he was and who he was is what made him great
no that isnt it
i watched a special or maybe read an article on josh hamilton one time and he has a long time friend that the rangers hired to keep on during the season as sort of a "life coach" of sorts.
the guy travels with the team throughout spring training and the season and essentially stays with Josh 24/7. This was at josh's request. he eats breakfast with josh, works out with him, goes to the games, stays in the same hotel room. when all the players go out to eat after the games, josh and this guy go out to eat or go to the hotel and eat.
it was josh's way of avoiding temptation.
this is not made up but is true.
just curious where that guy was this time
No, I recall that too but I thought it was CJ Wilson who did that. I'll see what I can find.
They're looking for a replacement. His previous accountability partner was an assistant coach (last name Narron, can't remember anything else). He took a job, which I believe was a promotion, with another club this offseason. The rangers briefly selected Josh's father in law to be the replacement, but after about a week they decided it would be better for their family if that weren't the arrangement. So they are still looking for a permanent replacement.
probably explains a lot with this situation. Guy needs stability and he just lost the guy thats been helping him for a few years
He would have shattered records if he didn't have the addiction problems IMO.
Assuming he stayed healthy of course. The guys baseball skill is one of a kind.
Really hope he stays clean. He is probably my favorite player.
"There's going to be a lot of people who didn't stand with us who are going to be remembered for not standing with us." - Al Golden
I actually think he was referring to Jerry Narron, who was Josh's advisor. He took a job as a hitting coach with someone else.
I have seen this story play out for the worse too many times. I hope he can stay straight.
Deserve got nothing to do with it...
Here is an article about his "accountability partner" Jonny Narron.
I really hope he gets better, guy has been to hell and back.
Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton, who has battled drug and alcohol addictions, had a relapse with alcohol this week, according to a source. The Range
