so much for that recruiting angle I guess. Not going to link from TOS, Cecil Hurt column.
Must be a gimmick recruiting tactic like Auburn tried to use on OJ Howard...
It makes sense, how many players just stick around, D. Goode and J. Preyear come to mind.
Ha. Cecil be trolling. Hell everyone be trolling
All Auburn uses is that gimmick for a "4 year scholly". Saban wouldn't do that there are legal issues with that...
I never made any comments on AU using this tactic. But yes I think it is a gimmick by all sides involved. Like CNS said, there really isn't much difference from what is already in place. It just sounds nicer. Sure would hate to lose a few recruits over semantics though.
A lot of bama posters did.... I linked a thread sent to me about it...
Looks like some more negative recruiting going on at Auburn.
I hope we keep him. Surely the coaches will make him feel better about ever
Yeah I know a lot of Bama posters made a big deal about it. I just lurked IIRC. LOL
and it continues, think we have found the debate for the summer..... 4 year ships..... good or no good.....
Clearly it's a gimmick
Can't believe Saban would stoop down and use a gimmick like this...
I thought saban's success wasn't predicated on using gimmicks or smoke and mirrors?
I guess it was all a lie?
This can't be true.
Absolutely nothing changes. It's just words. It sounds good to recruits but thwy'll continue to "process" themselves. Would Auburn keep the kids who did the armed robbery? Would Bama have kept Jimmy Johns or the other guys who left on medicals? This stuff is window dressing at its finest and another way the SEC can look above board and still be filthy.
For some of you Bama fans that said it was a gimmick and Saban wouldn't do it. The Bama fans that didn't I'm sorry.
That is what we said all along. That there are provisions in place to protect the schools also. Some Bama fans said it was just a gimmick for us though.
To get the edge back AU to offer 6 year Scholly's along with Troopah Towel and Chik Fil A dining card!!!
It was and is a gimmick. Just a very good one that will make all the others follow suit.
I don't think offering them is really a gimmick since they really don't change anything. Acting like it does change something to sway recruits is just funny in general.
BTW, congrats devidee.
Obviously Saban changed it for a reason. He must think it could be used against teams that didn't offer it or he wouldn't have done so as it is an option for the school to do.
I'm not saying it is a gimmick or that you said that but some other Bama fans did. I'm sure you could find the posts in the thread I linked. Again I'm not laughing at you or most of the bama fans. I am laughing at the fans that thought Bama wouldn't do this.
Again the rationale Bama fans understood the 4 year scholly thing some didn't. If you read the topic I linked above you will see some of that on the first page.
You should bump it for them.
Go Blue and Go Titans!
I wouldn't laugh either. This is obviously something that was being successfully used against us.
Exactly. It was a gimmick but it worked.
Gimmicks can work, at least temporarily.
