I can't believe how many think Joepa did nothing wrong.
Yep. We love child rape. Come to PSU and get bent over backwards, we're all for it.

Aside from you failing...
Has anyone read the article? I saw that woman on the local news last night. Batshiz crazy. The kicker is that she has like 10-15 kids and talks like a pedo. Very bizarre to say the least.
They compare it to a hurricane...............
Look, I am not throwing stones at you and Penn State community. But, we know this, and this is fairly irrefutable.
1) Jerry Sandusky is a pedophile and is guilty of serial predator actions against young boys. 2) ALOT of Penn State people knew this, maybe not the extent, but knew he had questionable and likely inappropriate relationships with young boys. Not just McQeary, but Gricar, Paterno, Spanier, Schultz, Curley, Gantner, likely Bradley and likely everyone attached to the program.
So. The question that just begs to be answered. WHY? WHY cover up for this monster? I am asking you Penn Staters this? You obviously know more about the culture and school than I do? Why would you cover up for this guy and enable him to continue? Why would you not go to the authorities and let them investigate and prosecute to the fullest. Why? Not only would that be the right thing to do, but it would seem to be the easiest thing to do as it absolves PSU and their officials from any wrongdoing. But they didn't. Why? It has to be more than they didn't want to embarrass Jerry.
DO you Nitters ask these types of questions, or you just mired in self pity blaming rival fans for talking about this? Please, I would like some cogent, civil answers as to "why?".....this includes you Pitt fans because I don't want to hear "they are cult". That is not an answer.
Why? I have absolutely no idea. Not to be flippant, but you would have to ask them. Why would Curley, Schultz, Spanier all cover for Sandusky? Why sweep it under the rug? I have no idea...I guess when some people are in situations and see a situation that could either pass or blow up, they secretly hope it just passes. Then when it blows up, they look foolish for not doing anything. But had it just passed, everyone breathes a sigh of relief that it passed.
And it is not just indicative of the Penn State situation...look at when hurricanes make landfall and so many people stay behind and ignore advice to evacuate. Why? They are hoping that the weather reports are exaggerated, the hurricane will make landfall as nothing more than a tropical storm, they did not have to board up their house and they didnt have to load their car with bread and water. Everything passed. But when they ignore the advice and get hit with a Katrina like disaster and lose everything, people ask the question "why didnt you just evacuate like everyone told you to?" They gambled that the storm would fizzle, and they lost the gamble.
I can only assume that PSU officials thought the same thing. When more info about JS came to light, they did the minimum and hoped the storm would fizzle. But it didnt. It was Katrina-like. They gambled that the storm would fizzle and they lost the gamble, big-time.
That is the best explanation I can give.
^^^^^ From the Pitt site
That is most definitely a Penn state fan.
That came from a Pitt fan. You can't listen to a Pitt fan talk about PSU.. Anyway, I don't think people fully knew about Sandusky. Some people said he was a weird guy, others said they didn't like to be around him because he always put his hand on your shoulder or just stood to close to you. But, there were never any whispers or rumors that Sandusky was going around raping kids. Yea, looking back, it makes sense and it makes PSU look terrible. But, at the time, people at Penn State (including Paterno) couldn't believe in a million years that Sandusky was doing that. I mean, the guy had received multiple awards and accolades from people like George Bush Sr., Bill Clinton, etc.
So, I wouldn't say that people knew exactly what was going on and decided to cover it up. I think people said: "well, he's a weird guy, but he has many years filled with awards and accolades to back him up.." Remember, it's not a crime to be weird. However, I do believe Sandusky is guilty. He's weird, and he's a child molester. Hang him.
I live in central PA & my best friend graduated from PSU in 04. There have been whisper's of this going on with Sandusky as far back as 01 or 02. My friend who was also a football player said this was common knowledge on campus & throughout centre county. No one wanted to believe it. Hell I didnt when he told me about it back in like 05.
Are you kidding? This is their wet dream. To them, this is the greatest thing to happen to Pitt football since Marino.
The Mod at TOS Pitt's site originally made a rule that all Sandusky threads should go to their OT forum and not the Pitt Football forum because it was not related to Pitt football. There was such an outcry over that decision that the mod had to do a 180 and allow it on the football board. I think that says it all.
If Penn State doesn't tear down Joe Pa's statue after this they lose even more credibility as an organization. That this was allowed to go on for so long because people were afraid of damaging a football program is one of the most shameful things in the history of sports.
I don't think you are going to be happy, bro.
I have already lost all respect for Penn State so whether they do it or not doesn't affect me. I didn't go to Penn State and I'm not a Penn state fan I'm not one of the many people with penn state attire or, even worse, a penn state diploma that has to constantly be self-consciousness about the atrocities my alma mater allowed.
I see... we are evil. Gotcha!
So I take it if this would have happened at your university you would burn your diploma right now? I mean, come on... you should have had the hindsight to know that this kind of thing would have happened, right? Should have picked another school.
I understand that this is a f'd up situation, but some people are unreasonable in their expectations.
Do you actually have a view on this situation or are you just going to continue using reductio ad absurdum as a defence mechanism?
Hey Trojans, LSU's 74 are better than your 75.
I've stated my view several times in several threads. Penn State f'd up emensely. I'm putting the majority of the blame on Spanier and Schultz based on the evidence at hand. If information comes out that Paterno was in on the coverup as well then he deserves just as much blame. I do already have some blame on him as clearly the best choice of action would have been to take McQueary to the police right away and let them deal with it. However, I also contend that taking the information to his superiors, including the guy who oversaw the police department with jurisdiction at University Park is not an unappropriate move. What happened when Spanier and Schultz decided not to press the issue is what I want to know, and also WHY they didn't want to press the issue.
Go back and look at the other threads... my views on this have not changed at all. And I don't think they are unreasonable. If you disagree, you disagree, but just remember that the alumni, students and staff (outside of the few that knew) at Penn State did not have anything to do with this. Considering all the great things that come out of the university, and it's academic reputation, I'm not going to burn my diploma and rip down my PSU flag because of a pedophile and a handful of enablers. It's the dumbest thing that I have ever heard. I am embarrased that it happened at my school, but I'm not going to abandon it. I'm sorry if that is offensive to you.
I worked in the Penn State Athletic Department and have a degree from there. I'm not self conscious about it. I'm very proud of what I learned there and how it helped me in life. Love Maryland fans, a good deal of you are class through and through
When you say " Outside of the few who knew" . The few that did were the most powerfull on campus. Does it bother you that Joe had a ton of money invested with the folks from second mile? From the outside, without a diploma from the university, it paints a very bad picture! Joe very much included.
No, it doesn't bother me at all. There were a ton of board members on the Second Mile because it was the premier charity in the area. They would offer their services for free and relied solely on donations to keep the charity running. All of the big-time local business men were involved in it. Not only that, but you had national celebrities as well such as Arnold Palmer, Andy Reid, Cal Ripken Jr and Mark Wahlberg that were honorary board members. The fact that Paterno and some of the local business men got into a project together doesn't say anything, especially when you consider that this happened a full year before the initial proposal for the project went through. I can tell you for a fact that the one partner, Robert Poole, was likely to have been part of ANY building project as he is the big name in the area for both residential and commercial construction. And let's remember that these partners were successful people outside of the 2nd Mile. It's not like the needed the charity or Sandusky (who had nothing to do with the project) in order to get this thing accomplished.
What do you know about any of those men outside of what you read from Bernstein?
Where in central PA?
I grew up in State College, went to State High, have friends in The Second Mile, have multiple friends (roommates at the time) who played and managed during 01 when this happened. I have two degrees from PSU. This was absolutely not common knowledge. I'm calling complete BS on your entire post.
I think his post being BS seems to be the general assumption.
I have a very hard time believing people were completely unaware, its just too much of a stretch. At this point, after everything that's come out I can't fathom ever being THAT oblivious.
To answer your question, I do not know these men. Do you? Am I supposed to believe they didn't know anything? Follow the money. I do believe when the civil suits start even more will be revealed.
So you think that the whole town was talking about it? You think that the students were talking about it?
How many times have you been in State College? It sounds like you are an expert as to what is going on here instead of the people who actually live here.
What a sick fuck, i hope bubba tears him a new asshole.
