............gas prices are almost back at $4 a gallon.
This obviously means Obama is the oil companies henchman just like the last president, right?
This post was edited by Brian Henry 14 months ago
I'm just repeating what the president said a week ago
"We produce more oil at home than we have in 15 years.”"
So is your point that the president has almost no sway over gas prices over a long period of time? If so, I would agree. Which was kind of my point.
Again, kind of the point regarding the prevailing theme that seeped out of the current president and his fellow members of Congress from 2000-2008 about gas prices and the presidency and how much of a farce that phoniness was.
That wasn't the argument then and you know it.
"“Years of Bush Administration's policies that have favored big oil over the consumers have resulted in record dependence on foreign oil, leaving American families and businesses to pay even higher prices.” - Nancy Pelosi, May 2007
Fraudbama is a joke
I read that Oil was the number one export, even with having to pay to ship it abroad they still make more than selling it here. easy govt solution is to rise tariffs but our govt doesnt like easy
President can't control the price of an international commodity.
Don't be stupid
Obama can't stop millions of Chinese from buying Buicks. Even though it is ridiculous that they consider a Buick a luxury car in China.
One of you researchers find this.
What do the oil companies get per gallon?
What does the government get per gallon?
Destabilizing would have to refer to a stable country. Rarely is the middle east stable... The war hurt the prices but not a crazy amount or something that would occur if we just left them alone. There is always going to be wars in that region.
Record output, but a higher increase in global demand=higher demands
People in China want to drive now, so despite the fact that we are producing more than ever, prices are still bound to go up.
The republicans raised the price again. Quick everyone vote for the Dems
Invade china IMO
Good grief we need to get off of oil.
Last time there was a world war, 60 million people died. And that was before nuclear bombs.
Besides, we had enough problems invading war-torn Europe. Wouldn't want to do it to a massive landmass with 1.5+ billion people.

There is enough oil out there to comfortably last us another 100 years easy. It's the liberal wackos who try to block things like offshore drilling and the keystone pipeline that are the problem.
It's not Liberals blocking that pipeline. It's idiotic Republican Nazi farmers from the Nebraska Sandhills doing that. Idiots that think oil is gonna contaminate the abundant water supply and don't realize that water runs away from the heart of the aquifer where the pipeline will run. Funny how no one gave a shit about the aquifer when the first Keystone pipeline was put in place
If a Republican was in office right now the media would be bitching non stop about gas prices. Fact.
I am a free market Republican. Even I think we need more regulation in the oil futures markets. Over 95% of trades made never come to delivery. It's just guys gambling, never ever planning on taking delivery. I'm a fairly intelligent dude, and I have no answer(other than manipulation) why a gal of gas costs the same at the pump now as it did when crude was at $140(it's about $95 right now).
And if we were allowed to drill ANWR like proposed 8 years ago we would be seeing the benefit of that right now
Again, that's the point.
Obama can't control it the same way Bush couldn't control it, but that argument wasn't made in 2006 the way it is now.
All true enough. Increased domestic output AND refining capacity would lower domestic prices. Getting it out of the ground is great but until we can pour crude into a gas tank it won't much matter. That we are sending oil overseas to be refined is retarded.
True - but Obama promised an oil independent nation and his administration would get gas prices down.....
So we are producing more oil then ever - Obama's words - and our gas prices are at $4 per gallon
Not sure what is worse - NCAA teams in denial on sanctions or Obama apologists
Every president since Nixon has promised energy independence, and none have delivered. It's a sexy thing to say on the campaign trail and nobody ever follows through.
It's not a democrat and republican problem. Yeah you can drill drill drill and wipe the oil sands clean, but the bad part is once it's gone it's gone forever. Everyone will be affected when the oil runs out. At the rate the world is using oil it should run out worldwide in the next 50-75 years. If we haven't developed alternative energy by then the shit will hit the fan.
No, it won't.
That's a fair argument
It just seems the guy is an excuse machine - the first four years of a bad economy was Bush's fault, cannot bring the troops home as be promised because of conflicts of interest with our allies, promised to lower unemployment- but has not and is about to send 800,000 DOD personnel out on the street on furlough- but it's because he cannot work with republicans even though it was his plan that got us in this position with the sequester.
Just excuse after excuse
