Source: Prior to Charlie Strong Saga, Al Golden turned down the #Vols job and Kirby Smart declined to even interview. #Tennessee
A defensive coordinator doesn't even want to interview for that dumpster fire job. Wow
10 Major Poll National Titles (CFB record)
35 Bowl Wins (CFB record)
72 Wins over last 6 years (CFB record)
What's so bad about it? Administration? Boosters? Finances? It seems to have a good alumni and fan base, with historical and somewhat recent success. Can someone alleviate my ignorance?
It's not even worth your time, honestly
Well Bruce Feldman is reporting that Charlie Strong also turned down Tennessee so there you have it, no one wants the job
Time to call Johnny Majors
I don't understand this.
Great fanbase, history, facilities, support, etc. Why doesn't anybody want it?
They need to do something quick. Kids (i.e. recruits) barely know who current coaches are before they talk to them, let alone remember, oh yeah, Tennessee was really good when I was 7 years old. They don't have the in state base to maintain.
Yeah, I know UT is a historical to 5-10 program and waaaay better than my school historically, but this is approaching dangerous territory.
Butch Jones. Who???
Maybe it's the "Fulmer Curse"..didn't he squeal like a pig on Bama to save his program from the NCAA?
Another thing I've heard my SEC pals throw around. Don't know a damn thing about it...true or not?
"Here are provided seats of meditative joy, where shall rise again the destined reign of Troy." Virgil
This will catch you up.
Vols coach allegedly provided damaging info about Tide to NCAA
Gundy, Smart, Fedora, Golden, Stoops, Fisher, Strong, Cutcliffe a few years ago. Who else am I missing?
Everyone remember how difficult it was for them to find someone after Kiffin.
Idk whats going on over there
Don't forget Golden turned then down twice.
Geez...I only half listen to some of the tales you guys throw around when I'm down there...never been associated with so many gossiping, loose-lipped men in my life, as you southern fellows.
Don't get me wrong..y'all are great people that care about each other, but you're just as happy to stab each other in the back, and spill all the back door dirty laundry on each other, in such cavalier fashion!
So...is it really true? I'm wary of articles not substantiated with clear facts. My SIL says yes, but again..he's a Vanderbilt man.
We got 2 idiots running the program. It's so damn embarrassing

I can't study for finals while sitting here in such disappointment. I don't understand how the program has come to this... I'll always remain a Vol though. I refuse to jump on a bandwagon ...
Most of it I believe to be true. There was a scam going on with Fulmer with a car dealership. Players getting free rides and cash etc. NCAA might have caught on to them, and he traded Alabama's troubles to make his go away. He's a great man, and he has done so much for this university, but I can see why so many fans hated him (ignoring the fact that he won a lot).
I'm in your boat, brother. Been trying to study for mine all day, and then the Charlie Strong 4:30 team meeting happened...
It's the ugly orange color IMO
I don't even understand the trash talk anymore. Is it really necessary to add to our pain? lol
Didn't skeer Bert.
Sure scared Urbs though.
Yeah, those two National Championship trophies was proof he had something to fear...
Any chance Fulmer comes back?
