Lets see him go somewhere with limited resources and do it
"Limited resources" meaning fewer boosters willing to buy him a roster.
Well Spurrier hasn't done it at South Carolina. Call me when he wins an NC. Hell, let me know when he wins the SEC. You MIGHT have a point if we were comparing national titles, but we aren't. We're comparing 3 national titles to a couple of 10 win seasons.
You are right...we aren't. Spurrier also isnt at a school that sells itself
would you please point me to the post that said that ^^^^^^^
all im saying is HBc is not "jealous" of saban and if he wanted cheap wins, he'd be at Alabama or Uf right now. i, personally am jealous of the success Saban has had but HBc has a little different style. he aint kissing ass, begging, or doing any attention whore stuff. i wish he would sometimes but he has too much pride to be an elite recruiter like saban, meyer or timeshare salesman like the guy at clem
How are they cheap wins? Again, if they're so cheap, Dubose, Shula, Franchione, etc wouldn't have had so much trouble producing them. I obviously understand that Alabama is a better program that USCe and that provides great advantages. But the wins aren't cheap. It's still very easy to suck at a power school.
uh, yeah heead ball coach is absolutely jealous of Saban. He proves it every time he is interviewed. The jealousy pours out of him; All he does is talk about bama or saban.
Saban is the greatest college coach of all time and it eats Spurrier up.
10 Major Poll National Titles (CFB record)
35 Bowl Wins (CFB record)
72 Wins over last 6 years (CFB record)
This. Why does he talk about Bama and Saban so much if they're not constantly on his mind?
I don't know if Spurrier is jealous of Bama and Saban or not(he is) but he sure makes sure everybody knows Bama and Saban dominate his thoughts and disturb his sleep patterns.
It burns Spurrier up because he was considered behind only Coach Bryant in terms of best SEC coaches and now it is only Coach Bryant and Saban, while Spurrier is an also ran with Urban, Les and several other good but not greatest type coaches.
Spurrier has done a nice job at USC Lite but it is still just a nice job only!
I seriously doubt Spurrier is worried about that. If he was he wouldn't have taken the job at Carolina.
those ^^^ are dbag coaches........if you put a very good to great coach at a great place, they will win. if Spurrier was at Bama he'd have a lot more wins than he has at SC......cheaper wins-- by doing it at an easy place
Lol, there are some ignorant posters on here.
Spurrier has 7 conference championships, 6 SEC Championships, and won 4 straight SEC titles.
He won an ACC Championship at Duke. Duke.
Had he stayed at Florida, he would have dominated the SEC like Bear Bryant, but without the shady recruiting tactics.
Nobody with a brain believes Spurrier is jealous of Saban. As a football player, or as a HC.
yep....it's like explaining to my clemson family/friends. Sc and clem both won 11 games this year....howphuckingever, dabo was hitting from the ladies tee's while Spurrier was going from the tips
Haha y'all are so pathetic. Everyone still refuses to answer the question of why he always talks about Saban and whines if he isn't jealous.
By saying Alabama has all the advantages he didn't state or even imply Saban wasn't responsible.
Wow. What a drama queen you are. I think your DVR just recorded another episode of some show off Lifetime. Go watch that and leave the man stuff to, well, actual men.
I hate it that I can't find that popcorn emoticon ...
So let me see if I've got this thread figured out...There are 2 pgs dedicated to Saban vs. Spurrier. Wins and losses.
If Saban wins a NC, his team is elite and is untouchable. But if a team knocks them off in any given year, that doesn't count b/c that Saban team wasn't considered elite. With this reasoning, how in hell could any other team or program ever compare?
Obviously, Saban has done a masterful job at Bama. And it's clear the program can't run itself, but all the pieces are there for even a mediocre coach. Heck, I bet Les Miles could even win in T-town.
I think the question should be...Could Saban have done the same thing at S. Carolina?
So, had he stayed at UF he would have dominated the SEC like Saban? Lol, he won 1 effin title there. And he didn't leave UF abruptly after winning it like Saban did at LSU. He stayed for many years after (about 7 I believe) and produced good teams, but definitely not great ones. Spurrier can't hold Saban's jock.
I think the best part about this entire thread was its started by a Bama fan based on a tweet from a Columbia beat writer for a newspaper that no one locally reads b/c it constantly spews garbage. FYI, you should pick another source
I think both are considered the best of the best. Just to set the record straight, Spurrier took a nothing program at Duke and made them relevant. He then took a decent program at Florida and made them the standard. He then took a mediocre program at South Carolina and made them a Top 10 program.
One other note...had Spurrier never toyed with the NFL and stayed at UF, he would be having the same success year in and year out that Saban has enjoyed these last few years. Spurrier had his comfort blanket. He simply enjoys challenges and has proven his ability to coach in many different scenarios.
It was a 7 point game until the 4:54 mark of the 4th qtr. Not quite the spanking you believe it was.
If I remember right, Saban was Bama's second choice for coach behind Spurrier so I don't think SOS is the least bit jealous because he could of had the Bama gig if he had wanted it.
Before he got here, we had one 10 win season in our history. Bama had 10 wins under Shula for gosh sakes. I could win 10 games at Bama, and I would never let McCarron see the field until he lifted some weights, stopped crying for the cameras, and promised to never get a tattoo again.

Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.
An offer was made. Spurrier said no. If you find even one Gamecock fan saying they wouldn't love for Saban to be our next coach, then you're talking to a liar. Nobody with any sense is saying that Saban has done anything less than an awesome job at Alabama. However, let' s not pretend that LSU and Alabama were crappy programs when he took them over. They were both long-time power programs who had simply made a couple of poor coaching choices and were in a down period. I don't remember Saban winning any titles in Lansing, Michigan. It's safe to say nobody can match Saban's record in the last decade and he may even be the best ever, but to start and carry on this whiny crap shows it's the OP who has the problem here, not Spurrier.
