Now that you put it that way..
One would have to wonder if the original "study" were completed by a special interest group. It could be skewed on purpose.
Nonetheless, you are free to believe whatever you want. I try not to define or label, or even involve myself in "political discussions" because they always end the same way: finger pointing and nothing accomplished.
Well, I figured if the left was heavily involved, then the results could purposefully be skewed. If conservatives were involved, and the results indicate conservatives just ain't all that bright, how could you trust their results? So, the results are skewed no matter who participated.
I don't think you understand how a study is preformed.
Given your place on the political spectrum though, that is quite understandable.
I'm very familiar with studies, I participate in a lot of them, and make some good money doing so. I wonder if it's just me, but seems like the more money you get paid, the sicker you get and more forms you have to fill out.
Way to misinterpret what I was saying.
Actually, editor of HLR has zero to do with academic performance. But carry on.
Dude, get a grip. You've just said there have been thousands of people as qualified as Obama to be President, which is what sets him apart. Man, you got to get a grasp on reality. You are seriously losing it.
bump for CMXI
Bump again around 11 and he should be getting out of bed by then.
Listen...Liberalism in it purest form with zero corruption ideologically is a great idea....BUT, we do not live in a world without corruption and with 100% of the citizens of this nation that are hard working. If we were able to live in a place where everyone worked hard and reasonably used the same amount of effort then I would have no problem with everyone getting the same things.
Additionally, universal althcare is a great idea. I would love everyone to not have to worry about how they are going to pay for their medical care. I recently had my appendix taken out. I was in the hospital for 18 hours and didn't spend the night. My bill...$ 37,000 the reason??? Because the government created a federal law stating that hospitals can deny care to no one. Hospitals never receive 80% of what they bill out because the people are "indigant" I sat in the waiting room writhing in pain behind teenagers sitting on their I Phones that had no insurance and were there to get their pain pills.
And listen as far as social issues go I do not care if a woman wants to kill her unborn child or if two guys want to get married...that has no effect on me. BUT, the government should not be able to use my tax dollars to fund planned parenthood birth control for all who want it etc.
The proof is in the numbers 47% of the US populace didn't pay federal income taxes last year. The average family on welfare received over $60,000 in gov't assistance FOR NOT WORKING. That is $20,000 more than your average American family that is WORKING.
Bottom line is I have no problem with liberal ideaology of us all living in a world where everyone does their part works hard and shares the fruits of their labor. But THIS DOES NOT WORK.
As it stands I will not stand by as the money that I make working 60+ hours a week goes to government to be distributed to people who are too lazy to work. 1.003 Trillion dollars in state and federal money went to welfare last year. More than the ENTIRE defense budget. Conservatism and working hard are both choices. CONCIOUS choices that an individual makes. They make them because they realize that the "ideological vision" of liberalism is just that. Ideological. There is no factual basis showing that redistributive socialist societies work.
What this election should be about is choosing the person who will protect you as a hard working law abiding citizen. It should not be a class or racially motivated vote.
Is our system perfect? Absolutely not. But, it is the greatest system in the world. People literally die trying to get into this country because of the values and laws that are in place today.
America is the land of equal opportunity. Not the land of equal outcomes.
You're a man's man, Tider.
Everything you said is spot on. You must have an extremely high IQ and graduated from an Ivy League school to be able to formulate that post.
Where did you get your numbers?
Welfare is governed by the federal TANF grant program, and then states are allowed to distribute from there. In 2011, the average family in a median state received $428/mo., for a total of $5,176/year. Hawaii, the state with the highest TANF disbursement in the country, only grants $763/mo., for a total of $9,156/year. If you add in food stamps (SNAP), the highest possible monthly allotment is $1,202/mo. (for a family of 8!), for a total of $14,424/year. Even at the highest possible rate of allotments, these two programs would only generate a maximum of $23,580 worth of assistance per year.
In addition, the state MOE requirement is about 2/3 of federal TANF grants, so if you add in another $6,100 as the maximum possible state MOE contribution, you reach a maximum total of $29,680 in government assistance (for a family of 8). That's even assuming that not a penny of those grants are used for administrative expenses. Your claim of the AVERAGE welfare family receiving $60,000 in govt. assistance per year is simply laughable.

I'm not saying its the case with him, but it does seem that most of the left leaning on this board don't really start posting till 11 or so. I'm sure its just a time zone thing, but who knows.
I was under the impression it was re-elect the guy who thinks video tapes kill Americans, and our monetary system is the presidents personal piggy bank.
My favorite, the ultimate American job under our current think tank is sitting on their couch collecting the government aid created by the working 60 year old waiting on his social security.
I'm sure with your great intellect and constant brainstorming you will find a way to dis-credit the old sticks and stones and somehow names are killing our citizens.
How about we re-elect the great thought out leader that while a congressman voted present over 90% of the time. Zero participation and leadership skills.
Obama was informed that life of a U.S. ambassador was in peril, not only did nothing, but told military personel in place to help, to stand down. Watched attack in real time from whitehouse, still had no problem letting Americans die, while fabricating story to deflect from fact that terrorists took American lives on 9-11.
Now, he seemingly does not care about who told military to step down, and personally never had any knowledge of what was happening. Once again, not responsible for anything that happens on his watch. You would think the Commander in Chief would have some interest in knowing who told our military people to please do nothing, and just sit back and watch Americans die. I guess he would, except he is the one that made that decision, so he alreadys knows.
I just do not understand how anyone can possibly support, vote for, or defend, someone like that.
So the 6 trillion that is reported by the most liberal media is less debt than the Bush administration? Pants on Fire!
How about this video? I guess maybe your looking for extreme socialism?
Now THAT is funny.
