Cheesdik ain't getting fired this year
as a buyout of his contract could cripple the "recruiting fund".
I love Gruden on TV, but have always thought there was something fishy about his coaching abilities. The negative recruiting tactic in the SEC would be pretty easy. "Gruden? You mean the guy who was traded by the Raiders, took over a team that had been coached by Tony Dungy for 5 years, won a Super Bowl, then got fired as the team fell apart under his leadership?"
The other risk with Gruden would be how he filled out his staff. He hasn't worked directly in football or with any coaches in 4 years and hasn't been in the college game in over 20 years. Would top assistants be jumping to go work for the guy?
So was Al Groh.
So was Lane Kiffin.
If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love.
Lane Kiffin has zero credibility. Guy is a schmuck
How well does Kiffin recruit? Pretty damn good and I think Gruden would be pretty damn good to. I'm not saying he would be a great coach, but the guy would be a great recruiter.
It is what it is.

You should prepare yourself to live with the consequences of your decisions, whatever they may be.
Um...yeah at least Petrino knows what the flying hell he is doing on Offense. Chizik doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to offense...As is evident. Jay Jacobs and Chizik need to both kick bricks and GTFO.
I was going to put a witty joke here, but I forgot bama fans still use picture books. So I thought I'd expedite the process for you...
No, Lane Kiffin is a good recruiter because he promises recruits that he'll show them nudie pics of his smokin hot ass wife if they come to his school.
You're high if you think our BOT and boosters are going to put up with a (at best) 3-9 year.
Have you watched those QB camp things Gruden does on ESPN?
All the kids love him and the energy he has, I just don't see how anyone can say Gruden wouldn't be a good recruiter. If how coaches developed players and things like that mattered so much in recruiting then Iowa, Wisconsin and Boise State would all have top 20 classes, they never do.
Or the college coeds he's been banging...
