His point is that Te'o didn't stand out in that BCS game at all (look terrible in fact) but somehow ended up with 10 tackles. It reminds me of Dhani Jones when he was with the Eagles... the guy had high tackle stats, but you would have never guessed it watching the game. If the offense gets 7 yards before the tackle is made, what good is that?
Those missed tackles looked baaaad to. I turned the game off at halftime and hit my liquor cabinet.
Like I said Te'o looked small and slow out there.
The guy never had an INT before this season. INTs for LBs don't mean anything. Most of them come on tipped balls or a huge error by the QB where he doesn't see the defender sitting in the zone.
And, as the other poster said, I don't think that 100 tackle stat is legit. It's kind of funny... Teo's worst season over the past three was this one, yet he won all of his awards from it. Dude was hyped, plain and simple.
He's good. Not all hype. Not gonna lie & say he wasn't hyped up some this past season. He's got instincts & a good football I.Q. There is no way to say how he will pan out at the next level. 40 times can be misleading. Its not track, its football. We'll have to wait & see.
So...what are you arguing exactly?
I've noticed you're beginning to talk in circles. You say Te'o is all luck then you say he was indeed in the right place at the right time via "tipped balls" or in his position sitting in the zone, which is why he had 7 picks. Are you just trying to get a rise out of me?
Is Manti supposed to feel bad about receiving all of those awards or something?
No, I am saying it was luck (just as it is with most LB INTs). Just because he was playing his assignment doesn't mean that he was doing anything noteworthy. It doesn't take talent to sit in your zone.
And no, he shouldn't feel bad about receiving all of those awards, but the people who selected him should be embarrassed. He wasn't even a top 10 LB in college football this year let alone the 2nd best player in the country. It's a joke.
Why don't you just say you hate Manti Te'o?
I think that would cut down on the confusion and be easier for all of us.
Yeah it's getting pretty bad now...
Yeah I am, since the game turned out to be a little boring after a while some of us started to count his tackles. I think we had him at 5 or 6 for the game.
Although I will say in Teo's defense, the majority of our running plays where not to his side of the field. He just couldn't get over to the other gaps with as fast as our rbs where going through the holes. Our Oline had their best game of the year.

I don't hate him. I said he was a 5th-7th round pick, so what's your problem with that? Do you think he was a top 10 LB this year?
That's a tough question. Statistically? No. Although he did have the most picks. Then you have to ask would ND have gone 12-0 without him? Again not sure. There were a handful of LB's that were statistically better than Te'o. But does that mean they were in fact better? Then you'd have to factor in strength of schedule and who those guys went up against.
That's a tough question.
To add to that he did only have two missed tackles the entire season going into the NCG, which I found to be pretty amazing.
5th-7th? Really? You have to hate him to rate him that low. Where do you have Mauti going? I happen to like him by the way, injury prone & all.
Oh there's no doubt he hates him. For starters he hasn't watched enough of Te'o to place him that low. Unless he watched every single ND game this season. Which I highly doubt.
Yeah, I don't get that. I don't hate on any kid from any school. I played Football all the way through high school. Needless to say I was not good enough to get offered a scholarship. There is no way i'm playing armchair QB when it comes to guys who have far surpassed anything I was capable of.
Yeah I don't understand. I try to think in hindsight where I would have placed Posluszny and I can't. The reason? I didn't watch enough of him even when he was at Penn State.
So I really don't see what getmyjive is collecting that from. It's clearly hate that is blinding him.
I am not a Notre Dame fan, but I do think with his 40 times he would possibly go in the 2nd or 3rd round. If during pro days at Notre Dame he increases his 40 time then for sure a 2nd round. I do think every season coming in Notre Dame is a little over rated for some reason. This season just seems he was a little over hyped.

What I'm saying is that if I were a GM, I wouldn't spend 1-4 round money on him. The experts are already calling him a 2 down LB. He has holes in his game, he is slow, small (but fat), is limited to ILB, has problems with getting off blocks and this whole fake GF thing shows that he is either incredibly naive or he is a drama queen. Regardless, there are so many other "sure thing" LBs in this class, that I wouldn't even think of adding him until he has value... which is the later rounds. I'm sorry if that offends you, but it is what it is. You look at a guy like Khaseem Greene from Rutgers... same height, weight, ect... way faster, way more athletic and way more productive. Why would you pass him up for Te'o?
What does him being incredibly naive or a drama queen have anything to do with it?
That sounds alot like a personal issue not a football issue.
It is a football issue. In terms of intangibles, it absolutely is a football issue.
Because it is a sign of mental toughness (or lack thereof). Te'o blamed his 40 time on stress and fatigue... really? Like the NFL doesn't have stress and fatigue?
Do you think you're nit picking just a little?
I've noticed you've pointed out every single bad thing you can think of about Te'o's game.
And have said nothing positive about it.
