Yeah, I said "why the hell is this guy getting heiman votes? He is average."
Just turn on the film and watch the guy. Then tell me where I am wrong. It's that simple.
When watching, answer these questions:
1) Is he fat, short and slow?
2) Does he have problems with working though traffic when his DL doesn't eat up OL?
3) Does he drop his head?
4) Is he a head case? (okay, you can't see that on film)
1) I don't see fat. Short compared to what? You and me? Slow? Didn't seem slow watching him on Saturdays... you must be referring to his ONLY 40 time. Which I'm not ready to call him slow just yet.
2) I didn't see him having problems all season long working through traffic. Are you referring to the titlegame?
3) He might drop his head from time to time. I honestly wasn't paying attention to that one.
I've watched every single down Te'o has ever played at ND, whereas you've probably not even watched 20% of that. And I'm the one saying wait and see while you're the one that seems to know every hole in his game. Funny.
If you were an ND fan and actually paid attention to him your "opinions" might carry a little more weight.
This isnt fat? That is 14 lbs less than what he played at. The guy is a chubber.
And 6'1 is short for a ILB. Not terrible, but it is still short.
Why in your mind doesn't the title game count? That is the closest he will come to facing NFL talent in college.
lol dude we could keep going and going and going. You don't like Te'o, I get it. You're not going to change my mind and I'm not going to change your mind. But this is getting tired.
I'd be happy to pick this conversation back up after the 2015 NFL season though. Then we will actually have something to go on. Until then maybe you should just stick to making fun of his fake girlfriend and referring to him as a ''fraud''.
I watched every ND game before the Title game. I watched how many times the DLine would dominate the game and Manti would make tackles 2-4 yards into every run. Manti set in a zone 50% of the time and when he didnt he wasnt putting pressure on the QB, he was plugging into a hole just like a Dlineman. Yall's defense was set in stone, very easy to predict and ran a core base of schemes that worked really well against the offense. Im not going to say ND defense was not good, because it was, but it was because you never let guys pass you in coverage, yall played smart and you made the other team BEAT you instead of beating yourself.
This was also discussed on the show Film Room on ESPN, but i noticed it before the NC game. Manti has great instincts as he sees the play in front of him, but when he attacks the line he is just guessing. He was set up many times against us as we would pull a guard and run a cutback play. He did guess it right once on one of these plays as he went untouched and hit TJ Yeldon (to bad he wiffed and TJ broke it for 7-8 yards). He gets mixed in the "clutter" when he enters the LOS, and gets blocked very easily. I watched every single defensive possession ND had all year long, and i had zero worry about the NC game. I knew we would find a way to beat your set defense which was very very easy to see (yall were great in this set as it limited other teams to the run and pass, but relied on the Dline to dominate with 4 guys). How did we beat it...show one thing and do another. We showed a run set and passed, running out of spread formations, and then pounding the ball with the defense only bringing 4 because of the PA. We show PA early to put it into the minds of the defense, while attacking the Cover2 on the outside of the 7. IF that makes sense to you, but i watched every game and can tell you Manti is slow, but yet quick, he is not good at pass rushing, but can tackle in open space. Im not sure if he can manage to keep up with the speed in the NFL as many playmakers are very hard to tackle in open space. I think he is a Round 2 pick and will be used situation.
No...no you didn't.
PSU guys will tell you how great Mauti is and PSU is Linebacker U
Yeah earlier in this thread he rattled off a bunch of PSU linebackers that I guess I was supposed to know about.
Only two I heard of were Arrington and Posluszny. One was a bust and the other I thought still played for his original team...didn't even know he got traded.
I think it's about time they strip (no pun intended) the name ''Linebacker U'' from them.
Totally agree - USC, Alabama (lately), Miami, and Florida St. deserve that title more
Thank you for backing up EXACTLY what I said throughout this whole thread. Of course the rebuttle was "no you didn't watch all the games"
Quick, tell me, who has the most LBs in the NFL? Who has the most pro bowlers at LB this year?
3 time POTW, member since 2006, MLWTI: 4-3
You left out former coaches in prison. Kidding.... Not really
JoePa knew nothing about it...
That's not going to help Manti out.
I was helping you prove PSUs dominance in all phases on and off the field
It still doesn't help Manti, now does it?
Hmmmm...... nope, I can't think how it would.
I've realized he's not gonna stop. Penn State football is dead. And with Ohio State and Michigan in that conference they'll never sniff a B1G title, let alone a national championship. He's got nothing left to lose. He'll just keep going and going and going and going.
I don't think its that. jives a cool guy & good poster. I just don't think he cares much for Manti. He has his opinion & its not gonna change. He doesn't like him, therefore in his mind he sucks, is overrated & is the worst thing since the macarena.
The Chicago Tribune's Dan Pompei writes that front-office types "are not alarmed" and that "four GMs said Te'o helped himself with solid interviews," adding that his combine 40 time wasn't indicative of his game speed.
"If a middle linebacker runs a 4.82 but he is instinctive and quick in a short area, the 40-yard dash time doesn't matter," one AFC general manager told Pompei. "At that position what matters is they are productive and make plays."
I will take the analysis of NFL GMs over a hater on a message board.
Scored 4 touchdowns...in a single game. Polk High!
