Grew up in Pa. hence the "Mr. Nittany" but I am a proud graduate of Texas State University. This was our first year in the FBS and we beat Houston in H-Town. We also played a high scoring game against (#20 at the time) La Tech. We are getting some pretty good recruits, have 36,000 students, and a beautiful campus in a great college town 20 minutes south of Austin. Any other alums on here and will we get our own site anytime soon? Thanks guys!
The biggest accomplishment of your university is that you had a starting qb that perfected time travel.
Does that enrollment include the illegal aliens?
BornToBeRed said: WPS, just a head's up. We might be the most family-friendly board on the network, so take it easy on your normal wps-ness.
I lose sleep at night wondering when Texas State will receive it's own board.
San Marcos is very nice, you have a very nice campus and TSU will have the opportunity to be a great program. Seguin, New Braunfels, Austin and the surrounding area are cool places too.
Best of luck to your program. Talent rich state and rising program are great things.
What's ironic about that is that Texas State wasn't Texas State back when Scott Bakula was traveling through time. It was Southwest Texas State University. Maybe he had seen the Bobcats 247 message board in 2032 and got confused when he went back to 1994?
San Marcos isn't bad, but I think State has a long way to go to develop into a major program. The hard thing with them is that so many kids that go there are Texas or Texas A&M fans that couldn't get into those two schools (which isn't to say TS is a bad school, it's just the other two are really good schools). So a fair portion of what would be the fan base doesn't have a very strong Texas State identity.
The other thing that hurts them is that UTSA (University of Texas - San Antonio) has also just added a D-1 program (coached by Larry Coker). So the regional kids that are quality (but non-AQ level) players have two options. I think they'll keep growing, but not sure they'll ever escape the non-AQ level of the Sun Belt or WAC or wherever they end up long term.

I pointed this out on our homeboard, but Texas now has 12 FBS programs. I know it is a huge state, but it's really getting oversaturated.
I hope Fran chokes on a handful of Oreos and marbles
Best party school in Texas.
My girlfriend went to Texas State and I grew up in Lake Charles (Mcneese State), my hometown was in the Southland Conference with Texas State.
San Marcos is a cool place.
Danielle Hunter, Jamario Rasco, Anthony FREAK Johnson.. DL wrecking crew of 2013.
Dude I'm attending right now.
Throw in Sam Houston State who just went to back to back FCS championships and has 17000 students and that's alot of options to play football in Texas.
Between that and all the usual outsiders coming into Texas (namely, Okie), you have to wonder when it will start to thin out the talent available.
Awesome! Best decision I ever made. Graduated about 2 years ago and got a job in Austin 3 days after graduation. Enjoy your time in San Marcos man. I miss it. Also, we just picked up a great running back in Bryce Peters. His film is pretty impressive. Also QB commit Tyler Jones ran for 1,000 yds, 26 TDs and threw for almost 4,000 yds and 43 TDs…pretty ridiculous numbers.
Love me some San Marcos. Sooo many hot, Slutty chicks runnin around that place.
